Well I have had my 2008 335i coupe for almost a year and it still brings a smile to my face everyday. So far the only issues I have had are the stiff break, the tow hook cover came off and brake squeal. The dealer replaced the cover free of charge but I have not brought the car in for the brakes. I do get squealing with accelerating at slow speeds. Minor issue for me. My only regrets are I should have picked manual transmission and wished they updated the idrive a year earlier. Auto transmission is the best I have ever driven and comes in handy with traffic. I would probably wish for auto if I had the stick though. I will be a BMW driver for as long as I can afford them. BTW never get a black car. This forum has been great in helping me pick the right car and right year. If I would have gave in and got the 07 I most likely would of had the HPFP problem.

What exactly is the "HPFP problem"? Care to enligten us future BMW owners! :)

I have a 2007 and have not had a High pressure fuel pump (HPFP) problem, so I'm not sure your last statement is accurate. I have had my car for about 18 months and until recently I have been really happy with it. The strange part is that after about a year and a half of getting used to it, I'm starting to feel like I could use more power. This is definitely the fastest car that I have owned, and is certainly faster than I need, however, lately I've really been wanting more power. The car is leased, and I'm not really a mod guy any way, but now I've begun thinking about the next car and I am ashamed to say that I want it to be faster. We'll see how I feel once the lease is up, but this car has ruined me and I'll never be able to turn back to the "It's more fun to drive because it takes more skill to drive a car with less power" argument any more.

Time to trade it in on a Lease Return M5.

Not all 2007 models had the HPFP problem but enough for me to avoid that year. I wanted to get one before they had even arrived at the dealers and later on the salesmen even stated it was great timing as his fuel pump went bad. I waited because of that and also because all 2008 models with auto came with the oil cooler. I do sometimes wish for more power but the M3 doesn't have the torque at low end so daily driving wouldn't be as smooth or effortless. I would have to rev it all the time. With my 335i I can do both. I could be completely wrong though, I have not yet tested a M3 just going by the specs of what rpms the torque kicks in.

If I could find one with a manual transmission, I'd certainly give it a shot. Although I know it's blasphemy, I've also had my eye one an Audi RS4. I drove this car and it is spectacular. Also, since they are about to change the model year, they're really making deals on the old ones.

I got an early production '08 (delivered September of 07) and my fuel pump went bad - and my rear tow cover fell off - all replaced quickly and easily free of charge.
Wierd about the constant hunger for more power isn't it? I LOVE the car, but will always want more.
I'm just about at one year as well. Still love it. Waiting for my oil change though.
On the RS4 idea -- a friend of mine just picked one up. Ridiculous deal. great deal on the trade in of a Q7 4.2

Your note was a wake-up call. I picked up my E90 one year ago today (in Munich and had Performance Center delivery in mid-December '07) and only have about 7k miles on it. Does anyone know if BMW will pay for its first oil change now?
