Has anyone done this, my car was idling very poorly, very chuggy, no air leaks or sensors were corrupt shall we say, so i was looking at the breather pipe and noticed that there was this valve slotted in

looked very obstructive to me so i removed it, now my car is idling so much smoother and pickup from lower speeds is so much better very responsive.

ps:ignore the date on the camera its fooked.

Mines the same on my 95. I believe it's part of the pcv system. Anyone know for sure?

yeh i think it is have a go if you wish mine feels a lot perkier and the idle is lovely.

mines idling at 1000rpm but my needle is out so i imagine its around 700-800 which is what i want

Yes, it is part of the system.

OP, did you check/clean your ICV before tinkering? Bad idle is caused by a vacuum leak or dirty ICV valve most of the time.

checked for air leaks loads of times and cleaned the valve till it was shining.

That valve is part of the pcv system. That valve should allow crank case pressure to vent back into the intake, but also keep from allowing pressure back in. Its like a one way valve. I would be careful taking that out.

Mine idles good and runs perfect. I probably won't mess with perfection.

i cant really see it causing any problems, theres a hole at either end of the valve so even with it out its doing the same thing its just that its more open.
