Hey forums I have a ???? I started getting a squealing noise from my 325is about 2 weeks ago. So the first thing that I thought about getting replaced is the belts so I got that done. BUT IT DIDNT STOP...... So I then replaced all of the pulleys and the damn noise is still there. What the hell is going on??? It makes the noise low when I have the car in Park but when I slide into drive it gets louder. Please help:help.Am I missing something??? THANKS

you need to isolate which accessory is making the sound. whether it be the PS pump, the alternator, the water pump, or the AC...since you've already replaced pulleys and belts...this leads me to believe its a bearing in one of those things thats about to fail....:dunno

make sure your car is completely cool. take off your belts, and start the car. if it still squeal then you just eliminated a whole bunch possible culprits.

I'm only partially kidding...:shifty

Take a can of silicone, and spray all of the pullys one at a time. When the noise stops tou hit the animal.

You're serious or joking?

Doing the same experiment with water instead of silicone is not a bad idea.

Also, next time you replace the belts, clean all the pulleys thoroughly with brake cleaner.

I know my squeeling is coming from the alt....

So I just pop off the air hose, pop off the belt, and then what. I have never messed with removing a bearing from an alt.... DO I pry it out, with the alt on the engine? Clean it up, and grease it, or put in a new one...

the bearings in the alternator are internal...just replace the alternator, it's cheaper and will save you a lot of time and swearing!
