at speeds higher than 60 the car shakes (not bad but noticable) when I'm not accelerating. As soon as I take my foot off the gas it shakes until i step on it again. The car is perfectly smooth as long as Im accelerating even all the way up to 100+. If i throw it in neutral at high speeds the shaking is still there but not as bad. Does this sound like a tranny or motor mount? or suspension problem?

TIme for some more diagnostics and descriptions.
Does the whole car shake? or just the wheel? or just the shifter?
Does braking affect the shaking?
How bad is it?
any associated noises?
What are the symptoms at lower speeds?

mm mmm ball joints probably, it sounds similar to my 325.
bimmerworld was having a sale on control arms with the ball joints already pressed in, might want to check there.

could be a flex disk, causing the drive shaft to wobble when not under load.

yes or that. or even bent rotors.
I replaced all of the above at the same time haha.

yea, the guibo sounds reasonable, but it would also happen under load at lower speeds, most likely. A balancing would not be changed by load, but would be affected by speed. Any of your bushings or mounts are culprits, but again, excepting the control arm bushings, all the others would be more related to the engine RsPM rather than the vehicle speed.

If it's the steering wheel shaking (like mine) then you're in need of new LCAB's. For the love of all things holy go to a place that has a proper press and avoid the "Kingsly/Etienne blowtorch and crowbar method™ (pat. pend.)." ;)

+1,
it could be a loose lug nut, or a loose nut or bolt somewhere.

I know its an old thread but shaking is getting worse on decel. Im also getting a slight thump when i shift from the back. It seems so much like when the front diff mount on my RX7 was breaking. I'm thinking either its a broken motor, tranny or diff mount because as soon as load is on the driveline it goes away. My question is: what is the common mount that breaks first? I havent got it in the air to look at it yet. Flex disc?
