I have a 95 325i convertible which I had the water pump, thermostat housing, and all new hoses replaced on last month from dealer, b/c they said the water pump was moving too much. My temp gauge stays the same in the middle, however I have lost coolant b/c the expansion tank apears to leak at the top. After I drive it about week, I notice coolant around the edge of the expansion tank. which every month I add about 1-2 inches of coolant in the tank. It worries me, is my engine getting warm causing the coolant to escape, or is this normal?
Thanks

is there too much pressure in the system? Did you ever bleed the air out of the system? How much coolant are you putting in the car? Do you fill it to the top?
Is your Cap broken? All questions that need to be answered mayne.

I hope the dealer bleed the system, but since I have added about 1-2 inches of coolant twice, I have not done it myself. They did a pressure test t ensure everything was not leaking b/c I saw coolant the next day after they worked on my car from a radiator hose, so they presure tested the car, and said all was good. I checked the hose today, and it was leaking alittle again, maybe this is my problem. Ill look at it tommorow, if I only added a little coolant do I need to bleed the system still?
Thanks,

How do you go about bleeding the system?
In my opinion, this DIY: www.understeer.com/fanclutchmod.shtml (http://www.understeer.com/fanclutchmod.shtml)
includes the best method of bleeding the E36 cooling system.
When I did it, I also has the nose of the car UP on a mild incline.
