Hi, I am in the process of choosing a new company car (lucky me!) and have demo'd a 318i touring. I was generally happy with it but felt that the engine was a bit flat. Does anyone know if there is much difference in real terms between the 318i and the 320i? Unfortunately my allowance won't stretch to a diesel.
Thanks for your help.

Is the 320 an I6? You'll get better low end torque than the 4banger I believe.

That are both 4-cyl i'm afraid!

Both the 318 and the 320 have the same 4 cylinder 2.0 engine. The 318 is tuned to 143hp whereas the 320 is tuned to 170hp. Considering the weight of the car, I would think that 143 horses would be a little low and would barely pull the car along and you would surely feel in your right foot. If you're planning on a 4 cylinder I would strongly suggest you go for the 320i.

Thanks, I pretty much thought the same and have today ordered the 320i SE Touring in black, got to wait until the 27th of Jan '09 though, which will be tough!
