What do you get with the Porsche MAF? Does it come with a pigtail so that you splice it into the stock maf wiring? How do you install it essentially.

Most do not come with a pigtail.. An OBD II E36 MAF plug is what you need to find..

So in order to make the 803 work in my car I have to chop the connector and wire in an obdII connector? Does the 803 have more pins or something? It looked like a plug and play, but I am obdI.

The keying in the 803 connector is different than the connector on the OBDI harness. There are several ways people deal with this (cutting out keying, splicing in a pigtail, etc). We actually sell a MAF harness at a premium that is 100% plug and play to those that wish to 'do it properly'. Our MAF harness uses OE BMW pins and connectors and is plugged into the stock engine harness, run through the main wire loom/box (or across the nose of the car), and then plugged into the MAF for a draw-thru set-up.

Please contact us if this is something you are interested in.

So whats the problem with running a premium wire with clip directly into the new MAF? I am sure you can use one of 50 different electronic connectors all costing less then 1$ for the 4 of them together. Also, search a little more, on one of these forums I have seen the pinout for both MAFs which should make this easy.

Also, from looking at a picture. Whats stopping you from grabbing a razor and smoothing either end of the BMW connector or the porsche plug and making it fit? Free and will work fine.

That's what I am in the process of doing right now. The only question I have is what color wires on the orignal harness go to which numbers on the 803. Can anyone help me out with that?

Yes I will need that as well.

Also, what are the dimensions of the porsche maf? I need to know how long it is, and how wide the diameter is on the ends. The stock 3" has 3.5" ends, I'm guessing the porsche has 4" ends?

3.5" ends on the 803. It's "about" 5" long total.

So it doesn't bow out larger on the ends like the stock maf? I'm surprised.

I was also told It couldn't be used as a blowthrough, yet in another thread it was decided air flow is air flow and it can.

does anyone have the pinout for the 803? I was going to just shave down the connector and make sure the correct 4 wires are being connected.

Edit: NVM: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?p=13236601#post13236601&highlight=803+pin

I'm just going to match the colors and force that bitch in.

Nope, it doesn't have anymor then about 5/8" of 3.5" lip to connect to either. I cut a silicone coupling in half...use half on each end to connect to maf. You can search my name for my build thread and get an idea. Also,

803 pin out. I also just dremeled mine out. But I will get a OBDII at some point. Make sure you put a mark on the side so you can't plug it in backwards.
