Just bought my 08 328 and i know i get the standard 5 yr/40,000 miles
they offered to extend my warranty (for a fee of course)
they also said i could purchase wheel and tire warranty for like $800... is wheel/tire warranty worth it?

The wheel and tire warranty is worthwhile only if you have to use it. (e.g., when you get a flat tire, when you hit a pothole and blow out your tire..etc.) I have no comments about the extended warranty though.

Both are like any other insurance, either the best money you ever spent, or the worst money you ever spent. Whether you have to use them or not will determine which. Like all insurance, it's a bad deal for the average user. The company makes money because they take in more than they pay out, so on average the buyer is not getting value, other then piece of mind and that is debatable when it comes to trying to collect. There's a reason every store is trying to now sell extended warranties--they're big money makers. Think about it.

You can buy these insurance coverages on line. Probably it will be cheaper. The extended warranty can be purchased by the original owner anytime, as long as the standard one has not yet expired.

I like the comment that was in an above post, it is either useless or priceless. I bought the Paragon Tire and Wheel warranty and glad I did as I bent two rims and ruined a tire. They paid 350 which is the max for the level of coverage I had and my car insurance covered all but 150 of the rest so it does help.
I am waiting to see how this E93 treats me but the retractable top is something that BMW doesn't cover extended and if I feel I need that coverage there are companies that will cover it.

I never buy extended warranties.
It is a better idea to bank the extra money and invest it.

Extended warranties are like insurance...bad insurance. You should only insure yourself against significant losses. If buying a new tire or paying for a repair four years from now would be a significant financial hardship than you are definitely buying too expensive a car. The companies that offer these pay a nice commission to the dealer, pay the claims and still make a lot of money. Therefore the average consumer is the loser in the deal. Just save the money you would of spent on the warranty you will most likely come out ahead.
My wheel and tire warranty from the dealership only cost $464. You should try to negotiate the price else, for $800 you can buy from online and save $101.
i couldnt post the URL yet, not sure how else i can post for you.

I got the dealer to thrwo in the Tire/Wheel package for free... I also picked up the Extended Service Plan - not because I want my oil changed (although that's a nice perk every 1 year / 10k miles /rolleyes) but because now it lasts for 6 years, 100,000miles.. And I know ill kill the clutch before that, which will be fully covered under the plan. that'll pay for itself, so it made sense for me.

We just received a notice from Paragon that they are canceling our policy and that they no longer cover Audi, BMW, Cooper, Jaguar, Mercedes Benz and Porsche.
