You were still Getrag? I'm surprised you lasted this long! :)

Yeah, getrag lasted 50 miles for me. Don't worry, not that hard to do. You'll need the driveshaft to go to the ZF. Out with the old and in with the new in a day.

open it up and take some pictures.

i thought the getrag could handle a fair amount of power??
i have a low mile getrag that will be put to my 2.9L turbo stroker and dropped into the car so does this mean i need to swap trans after i put my new setup in.

:cashwalle

Hopefully that statement isnt TOO appropriate though. :help

I would love to put a ZF in there but thats big money. I already found a very cheap Getrag (thank you Matt) so thats the plan. Should be driving by Monday.

*sigh*

A 6 speed would darn near bankrupt me. ZF trans + driveshaft I assume to be $800+. Cheap = 1/4 that. $600 is enough for a diff and most of an exhaust.

I see.
I'm learning.

Remember...

I got a ZF for $400 and a driveshaft for $100. Needed a flex disk though, that was another $100...
From what I hear, used auto part shops don't even bother pulling them out anymore because no one places orders on them. (ie, ZF's don't go bad often)

I think the zf was also in e36 and e46 328's so should be plenty around>try complaining to a non-M e46 owner about the 800.00 lsd, they're paying around 2500 to diffsonline etc.

yup, im part of that club as well. im currently on a ZFSame. I shat two bone stock. The first just made a lot of noise, the second broke something. The ZF, it has more miles, and its only issue is that sometimes 3rd=5th, but I've learned to not do that usually. At least it doesn't do 5th=3rd.

Update: Two days later the car is up and running strong again. Took the car to TRM this morning where Matt and I spent all day taking the car apart and putting it back together. We even got the subframe reinforcements welded in while we were there.

Big thanks to Matt and the guys for helping me get back on the road so soon!
