I'm using the Carsoft software to scan a 1993 BMW 323i Airconditioning system, and I get following error code:
40 - Water Valve, Left
Please check the connection of the black component plug PIN 5 to the water valve. If the connection is operative, then the component must be replaced
46 - Water Valve, Right
Please check the connection of the black component plug PIN 12 to the water valve. If the connection is operative, the water valve must be replaced.
Does anyone know which valve they are referring to?
As well, where it is located.
Many thanks,
Joe

The only water valve I know of is the one that controls the flow to the two sides of the heater in the car. It is down below the power brake booster on the driver's side of the firewall. There is a 3 pin connector on it that controls the two valves.

Yea its the Heater valve not the AC valve. the AC doenst have any valves in it. To look in the back on the intake side and see if the heater valves are pluged in and what not. and test your heater! maybe it works just its not give you a good reading...kinda like the break light failure even though the break lights work.

Are you guys sure it's not referring to where the A/C drains water? I know pre 96 e36s sometimes have it clogged, where it leaks under the carpet. I believe it's somewhere behind the driver side speaker panel. Just thought I'd add that in just in case.

That's what I was thinking, but didn't think they should need valves for drain ... But if there are sensors in the drain, I'd definately check that out.

There are NO sensors for the drain. It is to do with the valves for the Heater taps
