was wondering do i need to do to the dealer to get a key made on my e39 i had to thanks guys

E36 keys are laser cut, so require a special type of cutter. In addition, EWSII cars have a chip embedded in the key. You can't reproduce that anywhere else besides sourcing it from BMW.

i needed a key for my 1998 e36 is, i had to get it from my local bmw dealer,
i had to take my log book for the car (or pink slip for our american cousins) and proof if i.d, i used my passport, 2 days later a new key!!!

BMW has 10 keys for your car. They are $80.82 in Portland, Oregon. You'll need your registration and proof of ID. Just purchased one for the Z3. Was having trouble with the locks and a new key fixed it right up.

Paid $52 for mine shipped to my door, Dealer was in another town 100 mi away.

i had some locksmith make a copy for me. It works fine but i dont have ews.
