Why does my 318 die when i start it

I HAVEA 1994 318I SOME TIME THE CAR WHEN I START IT JUST DIES I HAVE TO HOLD THE GAS FOR A FEW SECONDS??????????:help

Idle air control valve is seizing, you can try cleaning it or just install a new one, also you should search before you post.

seafoam the car. mine did this twice, before a seafoam, and then never since.

Def just clean it, it will feel brand new and really stay rock solid on idle. Also you may have a leaky or cracked vac line. Nothing to major though. Your all good, good luck
