i know e36 m3s generally run et 40, but can 17 x 8.5 (et 13) and 17 x 9.5 (et 21) wheels fit an e36 m3? if so what, if any, modifications would be required i.e. fenders rolled?

car is not lowered (not slammed), but may be in the future.

TIA

idk that might be a verytight fit. stretched tires pulled and rolled fenders. and you night be abe to get it to fit.

In the front you will need about an extra 40mm of clearance for the tire, which as mentioned about means you should stretch some 215/40s and roll your fenders. Inside clearance should not be a problem.

Same deal with the rears, only you need 44mm of extra clearance. Stretch tires and roll/ maybe pull your fenders. Be aware that you may lose some inside clearance with this size. That may require spacers to clear the rear shocks, adding more necessary space on the outside.

Stretch tire, poke rim, mad camber. These three govern extreme fitment.
