So I bought my 91 M5, and there was no radio in it. So i put the OEM radio i had laying around in. It still had the stock harness and everything. But all it does is sometimes light up. Does anyone know of this problem and what it may be????
Thanks in advance.

there can be so many places which cause that.. 1st of all are you sure that the radio you installed is working properly?

I think you're M5 must be broken, shipping to 01245? :D

if its been disconnected, you are going to have to put the factory code in to get it working again. I believe anytime after you start it up, its the first thing you have to do. If its your original radio, it should be in the documentation. If its from somewhere else, or you dont have it, the dealer should be able to get it from the vin.

The radio does work, we swapped it out into another car and perfection, it displayed CODE and then entered it and it worked perfectly. Ugh, I may just go to an aftermarket store and have them put in one and wire it.

Im not quite to that point yet, the fundamentals still work, like the S38, and the 5 speed.

Check the fuse on the amp on the drivers side of the trunk behind the paneling.

If the radio turns on but does not work properly, perhaps the amp has seen better days

I replaced the M5's with the one from my 535i and voila, tunes again
