How much of a difference is there between tuning in person on a dyno and doing a remote tune? Are the tunes going to to be that much different? Is there a benefit to one or the other?

There's absolutely a benefit to in-person dyno tuning. The tuner can tune it closer to its full potential by monitoring the wideband and boost real time. You can also hear the motor and listen for knock, check the EGT with an iR thermometer, see the effects of the tune back to back when making changes, etc.

Basically, an in-person dyno tune will always be better than a remote tune. All a remote tune is, is a base tune with some pulls done logging AFR and boost @ rpm, sending that to the tuner, receiving changes back, dynoing again, sending, receiving, dynoing again, etc. This is fine, except you're probably not going to yield the same max power because of how comfortable/uncomfortable the person is tuning without the car in front of them. You also have the expense of dyno time for either hours if you can flash the tune yourself, or days if the ECU needs have a flashed chip put in multiple times.

Of course a poor tuner in person might not hold a candle to the best tuner remotely, but as far as apples to apples goes you're better off having the tuner there with the car.

In-person tuning is always better. With a MAF car with an advanced ECU and GREAT knock control you could get pretty close on a remote tune, but a tuner touching the car will always be preferable.

Does this mean your build is DONE
and waiting on a tune?? :buttrock

So you're getting ready to put your foot down
and if someone's a$$ is there,
you may loose a shoe?

F*ck man I wish you were running already.. Been watching your build for a WHILE!

What are you going with for tuning? Honestly, I'd go with a remote tune unless you have a really good local tuner. Most tuners can get damn close remotely.

I know tell me about it I sent my engine VAC 1 yr ago! WTF :eyecrazy I am going crazy waiting for this thing to be finished already. I don't have any local tuners so no mater what i do I have to outsource it from out of state.
