Cast iron top mount manifold, chinese GT41R, PVC piping, hole in the piping as boost control, 2x 1.5" exhaust, greddy e-manage, RRFPR, etc...

Hey easy on the TSI jokes. I actually have that kit on my 325is with the R turbo.

It'll be upgraded to a different setup soon.

I'd like to comment on the car in the video. If it is running on stock axles and driveshaft, I give it another 20 or so launches like that before either of those twist/snap. I hope you guys have the subframe checked and the shock towers protected. That wheel hop is scary. At least get the tire pressure to a properly low level.

Stock rsm's. You don't want them too stiff. In fact, all bushings should be rubber underneath car IMO so as to absorb the forces. I use a strut brace or TMS shock tower reinforcement plates (Z3 work too).

He isn't likely to bag on the build. He knows how getting ripped on for no good reason feels.

Also, the last time Tom made a build thread there was a HUGE outpouring of praise relating to the amount of work and thought he put into his initial topmount.

It sucks asking the forum to grow a thicker skin, but thats the best solution, aside from banning shittey members. If you don't feed the fire and buy into their petty/jealous comments, they will go away.

It sucks that just 12 months ago, there were countless build threads and design updates where things were said but the overall tone was totally positive. Now its not the case. I say post anyway; you aren't modding the car for someone else, so what does it matter what someone on the internet says. :confused

Yeah, again I'll mirror what uly said. There are several builds here locally that aren't being posted....four I believe. Mainly because of exactly what was said. Sad too.....some of them are out of control and then there are some that are a little more tame. All badass none the less. Im sure there are lots of builds going on around the world that are being withheld for the same reasons. Don't see uly, george, andreas, etc post anymore do you?? Anyone wonder why?

Ive also found that usually its the people that say "grow some thicker skin" or something similar are usually the ones that are partially or fully to blame. Im just using that as an example, not pointing a finger at all. :)

Sad to say that most of the builds that people will hear about will have nearly zero documentation and might come up out of chance on a random youtube search. Maybe a record has been broken or about to be broken or a simply wild build is being finaled and none of us will know about it or be able to learn from what that person went through to get there. All because the forum forced them away due to its attitude.

Any which way.....the video is badass and the car Im sure is nothing but AT LEAST badass also.

If I remember correctly, I thought you made 700whp on the ICS dyno with w/a and race gas. How much boost did you run on the GT3582R? Was that with stock DME?

I would hope so, as while I'm not Cam, I am always positive when appropriate and would never bag on someone's build or decision making process. I love to see others taste boost. That was the case before I had my own turbo car and even now that I've sold it.

Yes, ridding the forum of the douchebags would fix the problem but its impossible to ban someone for having a constantly negative outlook so long as they aren't spouting personal attacks (well, you can make personal attacks if you sponsor the forum;)). Thicker skin in the other solution...that or migrating to another more secretive forum <hint hint>.

There is one, I have no problems dealing with criticism.

I simply have not found a good reason why to post my build, after all I have not dynoed any numbers, no timeslips to show for, just some noise, fire and a bunch of smoke.

I built the car for myself, not to compete with anyone and not to be efamous... it's so I can enjoy blasting through downtown chicago late at night with some friends.

Just to make it clear, I did not build the first topmount manifold; Chris did, I just paid for it. The only lesson I learned from "the chris experience" was not to let anyone work on your car. Almost all components on the new build were DIY.

The new manifold is much stronger, spools quicker, fits a bigger turbo, 4" DP, has a nice wg placement, allows for AC.

here is some random pictures: http://makulski.org/gal/

It's far from done, I have my ITB intake manifold half way done, rear end needs more work, 3rd walbro pump is sitting on my desk, i might have grenade-ed my diff/trans/dss... what can I say its a project car.

The internet must be such a horrible place for you.

That's what they tell me, but I wouldn't know anything about it.

I can completely understand this. You don't have to give information, but don't start a new secret forum. This stuff is turbo pron, and from scanty north carolina I happen to enjoy every second of the new stuff you guys do for bmw's. I'd be super stoked if I had a GT40 bmw with antilag. 4276r, I bought the turbo for another project that I have sitting at the shop...

spool is decent, quite streetable, 4500rpm is boost. 5k is pure evil.

I have my boost controller set to 2bar. 265 street tires are worthless.

here is a quick video of one of the first times around the neighbourhood

http://makulski.org/video/08062008038badrelay.mp4

In case you wonder it's a trippe disc sintered iron clutch with a lightweight flywheel. Unfortunetly I had to have it rebuilt after 2wks of messing around.
