Wheel Specs on a 1989 M6??

what size wheels can you fit on an e24 M6? average offsets? largest wheel diameters (without rubbing)?

Will these fit an e24?

Fronts 18 x 8.5 et40
Rears 18 x 10 et45

No! the offset is too much. The normal offset for the e24 is between 11 and 20. 40 and 45 sound like they are for the 3 series. As far as diameters i have seen as much as 18 inch but I think in most cases you'll find 17 more compatable and 16 very compatable with the offsets I mentioned.

17's are the best size...and et20 is the correct fit
