I took out my door handle because I could not turn the key counterclockwise to unlock my door. I thought it was my key cylinder so I have re-keyed that. I still can't get the door lock to turn counterclockwise past verical. It gets stopped by a lug on the back of the lock mechanism. Help would be appreciated.

Try to unlock the car using the lock on the trunk. If the lock you are having trouble with wont unlock from the trunk (but the other locks do) then you need a new door lock actuator.

Thanks,
I've been unlocking the trunk to get the drivers door open for awhile. I think the return spring or linkage is bad. I'm putting it back together, we'll see how it goes. I did install a new actuator while I was in there. I really don't want to do this again.

Quick update in case anybody else runs into a similar situation. One of the bent ends of the spring behind the door lock cylinder had jumped over to the other side and was preventing the cylinder from turning counterclockwise to open the door. What a PIA. I had to take out the window to access the door handle assembly. Three days to get it working properly.
