well, this morning on my way to work.. an old lady that was cruising next to me and just switched lanes all of a sudden....i had time to brake enough to where she didn't hit my whole left side....i wasn't even in her blind spot...i was right next to her.....she knocked off my driver's side mirror, scratched and dented my driver door, fender, and left front bumper http://www.corpusracing.com/forum/images/smilies/crying.gif the fender is going to have to be replaced for sure....

then she decides not to stop but speed up as if she didn't do anything wrong....i was like wtf?? http://www.corpusracing.com/forum/images/smilies/confused1.gif so i'm on her ass waving her over and finally after about another 1.5 miles down the road she decides to pull over....the lady that was behind me pulls over too and hands me her business card and tells me "call me if you need a witness, i have to go to work." we just so happened to pull over in front of the CCPD substation...i got the old lady's insurance and CCPD did a police report and gave her a ticket for an unsafe lane change....no one was hurt, which is cool, but man am i bummed out about having work done on my ride....all i keep thinking about is how well the shop is going to match my hellrot paint since my car is 13 years old http://www.corpusracing.com/forum/images/smilies/cursing.gif

i'll post pics later when i get home....its really not that bad, but sucks that it even happened....

has anyone had problems with matching 13 yr old oem paint?

You should be ok. Find the best shop you can, if they can't match it you'll probably get a respray.

Did they charge her for attempted hit-and-run as well? 1.5 miles is quite a distance.

best of luck getting your ride back in shape. Any damage to the front wheel?

the cop said the same thing about the distance from the accident....she claims that she was looking for a safe place to pull over....i guess the previous 10 streets weren't safe enough for her....

and no wheel damage....turns out the mirror just popped out from impact and has a small scuff that can be buffed out....

That sucks! Hope you get it all fixed quickly!

For what it's worth- I have a '95 Cosmos, had some work done on the rear driver's side quarter. The guys I use matched the paint PERFECTLY. I can't even see blend lines or anything.

aslong as it goes to a good shop the repairs shouldn't be noticable and depending on how much they respect they're work they may respray it if the color doesn't matches or if you point it out and say it is unacceptable...

as for matching the paint and it turning out to my satisfaction, i'm going to talk with the adjuster about that when i meet up with him....again the damage doesn't appear to be too bad, but the shop will have to repair and paint the driver door, replace and paint the left fender, and repair and paint the front bumper....a couple side moldings will also have to be replaced also b/c they are scuffed and irrepairable....i'm sure they will have to blend to the hood, but that's about it....the damage on the driver door is underneath the mirror so they have room to blend within the door without having to blend into the quarter panel....i know the body man that is going to do the work and i know the painter as well, and both of these guys are top notch....i've got my fingers crossed....

Any reputable shop will have no problem matching your paint, I promise.

All the paints I have had mixed over the years for old cars of mine were perfect matches. They have computers now that you set a sensor on the paint or a sample ( I always brought the gas door with me) and it reads out the proper blend to match the fade of the paint. If they do a good amount of business, which it sounds like they do, they will have this machine or order paint from a place that has it.

Dude that sucks balls. Stupid lady drivers. The repair shop should respray the whole car due to hellrot and being a hard red to match correctly .

that's ridiculous :rolleyes.

Insurance will never pay for a complete respray; reputable body shops have no problems matching paint.

Bring it to a very reputable, very expensive shop. You will regret it if you dont. You get what you pay for
