I'm assuming it's not just my car that does this? 98 e36 and the climate control comes on everytime i start the car, which is quite annoying. Anyway for it to stay off until i choose to turn it on?

Mine doesn't do this. :dunno

If I leave the CC off before shutting the car down, it'll stay off when I get back inside and turn the car on. If the CC is left on however it'll come right back on when I start the car.

Don't be so nit picky? Who cares, turn off auto, put it at the lowest setting. You wont hear the fan.

It's just become a part of my normal ignition proceedure. Get in, close door, clutch in, take out of gear, turn key to ON for 2 seconds to let fuel pump prime, IGNITION, verify out of gear, release clutch, if weather permits then drop the top, turn of climate control, turn on radar detector, verify seat and mirror setup, check for traffic, push in clutch, put into gear, gas/clutch to go...

But yea, it would be nice to have it just stay off. Of course it doesn't really matter right now, since as of this morning my blower doesn't blow... hopefully just needs an FSU replacement.

You forgot to put your seatbelt on.

I knew someone was going to mention that... I was just too lazy to go back and edit it.

I ALWAYS wear my seat belt.

you seriously don't need to prime your fuel system every time, somehting tells me you've never worked on your fuel system and forgot to pull the fuel pump fuse and crank prior to said work

+1 I hate it when that happens, mine seems to like to decide when it wants to turn on. I think it may have to do with how long the car sits between drive cycles. For instance if it sits over night it always comes on when I go to drive car, but If I got to the bank and the car sits for 10 min. then it will remian off. I'm thinking it's the way the car has been designed to operate. But I would love to make this thing be off until i want it on.

"prime" may ne be perfectly accurate. If I just turn to ignition in the morning, then the car will crank for 2-3 seconds. If i turn to on, then let the fuel pump pressurizem then the car starts up very quickly. Yes, this is likely a precursor to a bigger problem.
