What is the best value on OBD-II code reader?
I am interested in reading my codes, resetting the codes, etc. I would also be interested in engine management. Is there a one-device-meets-all?
Any recommendations ?

There isn't a device that meets all of those. The peake research scan tool works great and gives you genuine bmw codes and comes with a book that explains everything. And its only $129 i believe, almost as much as a dealer code diagnostic. As for engine management there aren't a lot of people who use it. Are you talking about a standalone or a piggyback?
I just used an Innova OBD2 code reader to read O2 sensor codes and reset the check engine light on my 2000 M Roadster. It worked fine and costs under $100.
It gives you the generic OBD2 code and the specific BMW code.

I have a C-reader IV, and it reads the codes and tells you what the code means on the display. Costs about 50 bucks new. Everyone I use it around has bought one. Even techs here at the Dealership have them to quickly diagnose a car while waiting for an available GT1.

I bought an Actron CP9145 and it works great. Does all the basic stuff but also gives me real time data of O2s, STFTs, LTFTS, etc...
Got it for $50 used on ebay.
