Roundel writer Dan Erwin killed in Montana

News of a motorcycle accident near West Yellowstone, Montana, on August 8 shocked the Roundel staff along with anybody who knew Dan Erwin—even if they only knew him through his writing for Roundel, Bimmer Magazine, European Car, and Forza. Blessed with a comfortable talent, Erwin could be laugh-out-loud funny or quietly touching; he had a special gift for describing in excruciating detail those occasional, singular moments experienced by chronic gearheads, the ones who are cheerfully convinced they can drag a moribund BMW across the country on sheer bravado, duct tape, and a couple of tubes of JB Weld.

I knew Dan (http://e24mpwr.blogspot.com/) pretty well. I attended the memorial service this past weekend, and it was a celebration of a really amazing guy.

I'm damned sad to lose him.
