Hello, I'm the proud owner of a 2004 Mini Cooper S. I was on the forum a few years ago with my 97 M3, then I drove an Audi S4 2.7T for a couple years. Now it's on to something new and very different. As everyone, I have the need for more power and I was looking at the shark injector mod with 15% pully. Just one question, what does this do to gas mileage?

First let me say welcome to the MINI world.
As for the pulley, its the best mod for the money.
As for the shark injector, save your money for a custom tune down the road.
I would do this:
1. Pulley we sell and install a lot of the 16% pulleys.
2. Cold air intake.
3. detroit tuned bypass valve
If you have any questions feel free to PM me

You're saying that the factory ECU will work fine with the pully? Also, what about gas mileage? This is important to me as I travel all over the southeast for my job. I don't even want to lose 2-3 mpg.

Stock ECU will work fine with pulley
as for mpg you may see a slight increase.
Keep in mind the pulley makes the car more fun to drive so you will find yourself getting on it more and that could have a negative affect on mpg.

My MPG actually went up ~ 2 mpg with the CAI and pulley mods.....when I keep my foot out of it.....

Thanks, this is good info. I'm glad I asked because I would have bought the ECU right away as I have with most of my turbo cars.
Is the pully tough to put in. I realize I'm asking really noob questions, but what the heck the thread is already started.

The pulley is not HARD to install.
But it depends on your skill level. First time plan for about 3hrs.
The pulley comes with detailed installation instructions.

Welcome to the wonderful world of MINI !
I also have an 04 MCS. I have the CAI, 15% pulley, and a custom Revolution MINI Works ECU tune and I can easily get over 35mpg on the highway. This with almost 210 hp. Do not waste your money on a "canned" tune. Wait until you can have a pro actually tune the car on a dyno. There seems to be a lot of variance between engines of the gen 1 MINI's. I have seen myself up to 20hp difference in engines. No way a canned tune is going to be able to optimize these engines reliably. In fact there has been some very compelling evidence that most of these canned tunes have either not even adjusted the timing or A/F ratio or adjusted these values to way beyond safe levels.

There is special pulley "puller" that you can buy or rent that will make the job so much easier.... without it, removal can be a real bear...... Check with NAM

Or better yet....see if there is a MINI club nearby that you could join and see if they have a deal with a local shop to do the install or maybe even have a member who would offer his services. I know my club has both.

good idea. At the very least, someone will have a puller you can rent or borrow. Our club even had a "Pulley Party".....

How fast, only about 90. Very planted and reassuring. Just recovering from a $1,000 racing ticket with my previous Audi S4, so I'm taking it easy.
I have a Mini Madness CAI coming. I want to do 1 mod at a time so I can savor each one and see the real difference.
