compustar Pro P2W9000FMR best there is IMO
I was thinking the same thing about my M6....
However, isn't there a good chance that your stealership will attempt to blame any electrical problems (and I am 80% certain you will encounter a gremlin or two during the life of your warranty) on the wiring of your aftermarket security system?
Before someone quotes Mangusson-Moss-
I agree that it's the law... but there are any number of dealerships that WILL force you to sue to enforce its provisions... 'cuz they will simply refuse to touch your car for anything that could be even remotely related to your aftermarket electronics.

Dont you guys believe in full coverage?
I wouldnt touch a newer car like that unless it was getting sick audio setup if i was into that kind of thing

Frankly I wouldn't get an aftermarket on a car like that. You dont want someone to rip apart you 2009 M3 (I hate your guts by the way) just so you can start your car from 50 ft away.
That being said, Viper's high end alarms have two way, meaning they will beep in your pocket if the alarm goes off, which I think is a nice feature. I am sure that other manufacturers have this, but I am most familiar with Viper.
Also, look into Piezo sirens, I think they are the best thing to add to an alarm. 120Db, 18,000 hertz, put a couple of those in there and no one will want to stick there head to steal your 200$ Oakleys.
But, once again. Dont let someone take apart anything on that beautiful car with 414 hp, 297 lb/ft of torque and that sweet sweet ass. (I really dislike you) People break into 97 honda civics not 2008 M3's. Cars like that scare crooks.
I hate you. Good luck.

wow are you guys really recommending to not install any type of alarm?
i dont really know how well the factory alarm works but i do highly recommend a complete security system for your car whether you leave it stock or put in a flashy 10k stereo system in there.
who knows when youll leave your laptop or cell phone in the car and someone decides to jack the entire car and youre out important documents and/or personal information
last sunday my integra got stolen and although i did have coverage which is giving me a nice check i still hate the fact that someone got away with my car. the idea that full coverage is all you need is horrible. why let them win when we dont have to? i cheaped out when i got my alarm and just got a fairly basic viper alarm with remote start. dont do that.
do yourself a favor and pick up a high end compustar alarm w/remote start if youd like. make sure you get the gps tracking and the upgraded siren. you'll regret it if you dont. i know i do.

Stealing an integra and stealing a 2008 m3 are two totally different things... Try starting the latter without a key... Try it. A screwdriver and a hammer starts an Integra.
The high endness of the alarm is not what makes the difference. It is features and sensitivity settings. If you a serious, add a battery backup, so that if the alarm is disconnected from the battery ( which is probably what happened to low slow) it doesnt lose power. Add a better Siren, and get two way. You dont have to spend 2k on a security system to get something good and dependable.

If a thief has a contract for a 2008 or 2009 m3 that shit is gone and there is nothing you can do about it.
if its a 199x integra that my little sis could start without a key go figure that shits stolen for parts or a joy ride
the bimmer is going to russia
see the difference
no point in blowing 500$ on a security system to what let people know that someone broke your window? big whoop the car like i said if is under contract it is gone

I gotta agree, if someone is honestly going through the trouble to steal a brand new m3, they probably have the tools to do it all. There's really no point in buying an aftermarket alarm. Now, if the main reason you are getting one is for the remote starter, then I would reccomend the Shelby alarm/remote starter system.
I bought one for my mother on her birthday 2 years ago and she loves everything about it. A bit pricey though....($500+Installation on a 2004 4Runner)
Features:
-You can set the sensitivity levels for when someone hits and/or dings your car and pages you when someone does so.
-It will start your car from up to a 1/4 mile away.
-It will disable if you try to drive off without the key in the ignition.
-It tells you the temperature outside the vehicle.
-It will tell you if any of you doors, hatch/trunk, hood, moonroof are open.
-Say you go out of town for a week and leave your car at the ariport. It's really cold out and your fluids have been sitting for days. You can set your remote on a schedule to start the car for anywhere from 10-30 minutes per day/per week/per month.
-Lifetime warranty on the unit itself and batteries for the fab keys. A 5 year warranty on the fab keys.

I agree... people who steal brand-new M3s play for keeps- your aftermarket system and the keys (that almost invariably have to be left somewhere in the car) often just serve to make the job easier.
The stock security system does most of what you want and everything you need. A remote starter will just add unnecessary heartache- though I admit I was really drawn to the prospect of lighting up my V10 from a distance without a key (from outside the car)...
