Finished painting and installing my friends Valve cover and Intake manifold for his S52 swap in a 1995 525i. What do you think?

:alright.

I used the 500 degree Ceramic Engine Paint. It took me about 8 hours to do this, with taping and all.

is that a plastic S52 manifold?

It looks good, but I think the execution would have been better if you taped the stripes across the valve cover and intake at the same angles, but that's just my eye. Do the fuel rail cover at the same time.

good execution. only criticism is the design. would have like to have seen the three strips continue onto the tubes and the manifold... and the other 3 in white.

nice work though!

Looks nice, only criticism from me is the shade you used for the middle color. Should have been more of a dark blue, and a little less purple IMO. But, like I said, it turned out nicely overall.

Also, how was the swap? Was the wiring straightforward? Like plug engine harness into existing car harness and start it up or what?

Yep, Plastic manifold.

is that a plastic S52 manifold?

It was easy, you take your engine out, carry over your harness, big one: drill and tap the head for your temp sensor, seems rough but it is very easy and straight forward, I would use your OBDI Valve Cover as it will accept your harness better for vacuum lines, Put it back in, ALL DONE :D :redspot :alright

or use the piece from turner so you avoid having to drill your head

Post some pics after a few months of driving....I am curious how it will stand up to heat/wear. Looks awesome though.

I painted my valve cover with the same 500 degree engine paint, and if anything, after being in the car for a while, it baked on and became harder.

depends if you're 'old school' M colors or not, e24, e28, e30 and e34 had red/purple/blue. my e34 m5 has red/purp/blue on the M badges. So for an e34, these are 'appropriate' colors.

Newer M cars, like my e39 have red/darkblue/light blue, as did the e46 (haven't paid attention to newer cars, and not sure where the e36 fell).
