Sumitomo HTR+ is an excellent tire for the e36 for year round use but a dedicated set of snow tires are a must for any e36.

the cheapest ones you can find... ebay - $200 set of 4 'nakang' korean POS tires (or whatev the right spelling is)... I got them & have no problems burning them up, since they were so cheap (rear camber issues & all).

or spend some decent money on Continental ContiSport - my dad has them on his A8 and they are great.

I must say that I disagree with your entire post. Continental has yet to figure out how to make a proper performance tire and running the OE rubber on an A8 is hardly any way to qualify them as being suitable for a 328i especially when you have nothing else to compare it to on that dissimilar luxury sedan.

Nankang tires are black, that's about all they have in common with quality tires. If you feel that spending the least amount of money on GARBAGE TIRES is the way to go then I certainly hope you walk more then you drive. Tires are your first and last connection to the road. Your car's power, handling prowess and braking capabilities all rely supremely on the quality of tire that you have connecting your butt to the road.

buying garbage tires is akin to throwing away the whole point of driving a performance car.

Im definitely not going wit the Nankang tires... Im most likely goin wit the Kumho tires... There not to expensive... Only reason im gonna try those first is cause i have to change the bushings, control arms, and tie rods and my pockets don't run that deep, lol...

You might also look into Yokohama Avid W4's as well - a little more $ than the Kumho's, but gets a big thumbs up from tirerack. If you do decide to spend $$'s on tires, must check out GY Eagle F1 A/S - best tires I've ever driven on!

I was on Sumitomo 'performance' tires when I bought my ///M. They REALLY sucked... but were uber-cheap (hence the suckage). They were loud, slippery, and had a harsh ride.

Now I'm running Falken FK 452's. Compared to the Sumi-craps, these are a HUGE improvement. The cost is good, and so far they've been very good ride, grippy, and quiet.

if your just gonna go with kumhos because they are cheap, then you might as well just pick the cheapest tire you can find since your gonna have to buy new ones sooner anyway since kumhos seem to wear out pretty quickly. . if you want a cheap tire that will last a descent while then look into those yokohama's that SilverThing was talking about.

Well I have had my Kumho's for about 15K and they still have a LOT of tread left. The treadwear rating on them is a 420 rating which means that the tire is a bit harder so it wont heat up as fast but it wont wear out as fast either. The yoko's Kumho's and GY F1 A/S all have the same (420) treadwear rating. so look at the price next and see what you want to spend. For me, its a no brainer since I use my car as a DD all year round.

It ultimatly what you want to buy for your car. If you dont want to spend an arm and a leg, I would go with the Kumho's (for 235/40's they are 99 a pop, which is cheaper then the yoko's BLUIZE256) but that is just me.

I also use my car as a daily driver all year and have had both kumho's and yokahama's on more than one occasion and i dont care what ratings say, my yokohamas always out lasted my kumho's. overall the worst tires I've had were GOODYEAR Eagle F-1 all seasons and they were given great ratings as well, this is the reason i can care less about ratings. . Maybe it has somthin to do with the fact that the roads and weather are completely different in Jersey and st. louis. .

That is a possibility. I was suggesting the Kumho's because I have had great luck wit hthem and the OP was looking for an inexpensive all season.

Goodyear F1 All Season or Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S. Either one will do fine all year round.

bridgestone re960 a/s pole position hands down. gives you competitive dry traction and FAR superior wet traction compared to other all season ultra high performance tires

You stated you wanted all season tires? I think it is hard to beat the Michelin all season ones that are for water, can't think of their name but they have a long life.
I have had great success with 3 sets of Conti tires, one 15" stock on an E36 convertible, the 19" Conti's on my E93 (M3 E46 rims and Conti's) and the Conti's that are SSR RFTs on my E93 as my other set.
Not as good as Michelins but not bad at all.
I have never had much success with Kuhmo's and other unknown brands of tires but my experience is limited to applications for E36's.
