My wife just got an 08 coupe, pretty much base model. I was going to do some cosmetic mods on the interior. She wanted to add some wood, she saw the factory stuff & liked it, but I figured that I could get an aftermarket kit & save some $.

Well I started searching for a wood kit for her car, but it looks like nobody is offering it for this model year. Apparently it's been changed from previous years, so does anybody know if an aftermarket kit for an 08 coupe exists?? If so, where can I find it? Or do I just have to wait a while??

Thanks :buttrock.

Good luck on the after-market trim kits. I never even saw them for the R53s. If it's performance tuning you're after, you can save a few bucks in the aftermarket. But for trim/interior stuff, you're really better off going OEM, imho... and as far as I know, there aren't any replacement kits for sale.

junkyard is about the only cheap way to get trim

Oh well, thanks for the info. I'm just hoping that maybe these cars will get more popular soon, at which point the aftermarket companies might decide that it would be worth their while.

More popular than what? Sales numbers are pretty well off the charts. There are dozens upon dozens of aftermarket vendors and manufacturers, making all manner of interior upgrades, gauge faces, chrome-line accents, etc.

The problem is that one of the panels you'd upgrade is in front of the air-bag (passenger), so these companies may not want to deal with the liability of encouraging people to get anywhere near that, but the issues are probably age and cost more than anything... none of the cars are old enough to need interior panel replacements, and anyone who wanted faux-wood interior trim likely just plonked down the $250 when buying it new. Finally... getting around in the interior is not that easy. I'd hate to think about what's involved in getting the dash panels removed.
