Not getting much help on the 3-series forum:

I just recently bought a 2005 330i ZHP (sedan) and need to replace the rear tires. I noticed that they are both 225/40's as opposed to the stock 255/35's. The guy at the tire shop I'm working with said that it looks like my car had been lowered and that it couldn't accommodate the wider tires. I'm assuming that a wider tire would rub on the sidewall if it has been lowered. Is this correct?

Also, the car currently has Nitto NT555's and this guy is suggesting a DunlopDZ101. What other price/performance balanced options do I have?
I've read good things about g-force BFGs and Sumitomo HTR ZIII's on the forum.

If you have the factory wheels there is no reason why the 255/35ZR18 won't work even if it is lowered. I would not recommend the Dunlop Direzza DZ101. It is a lower end tire and not what I would consider a good choice. Bang for the buck the Sumitomo HTRZ III is an excellent choice. They are a lot better handling tier than the other options you listed. In the testing that we did here they handled very good in wet and dry.
If I can help let me know.
