Hey guys, My friends little brother was in the back seat of my car and was tapping on the rear window while it was popped open and the side attached to the car (near the driver's side window literally just popped off. We had to drive back from Pittsburgh so we just taped it up (duct tape FTW).

Now I can't find anything on how to reattach the window if that is even possible. My bently manual completely skips over that window all together.

any suggestions?

thanks in advance!

Call a local glass shop, maybe they will talk you through it.

Or pull apart the pillar on the other side to see how it attaches.

There are 2 nuts that screw on from behind the b-pillar cover. The window has a metal frame on the front edge with 2 studs that go thru holes in the b-pillar.

thanks Jay - I figured it was something like this. I will have to take a look again when I get home - I don't see any mention of these studs or their mounting point on realoem.

alright - so after taking a closer look it seems that the adhesive used to attach the actual window glass to the mounting hardware came "unglued".

I guess after 10 years it just lost its stick

At this point I'm just going to try and find a cheap replacement instead of screwing around with gluing it all back together.

on that note - anyone know of a good DIY for replacing this window/ removing the B & C pillars?

Go to a auto glass shop. They should be able to get it glued back on for you for about $20 at least thats what I would charge my customer if they had come in.

yeah I'll have to look into that as well - I have a small crack in my windshield so maybe I can kill the two proverbial birds with one stone

ahh well - I was able to pick up a new window yesterday that had the front mounting point still attached. I got my window off in about 5 minutes and then spent about 1/2 hour trying to get the bolt attaching the seatbelt to the B pillar off. it started to strip so I called it a day. :mad

All I had to do was get that off so I could get at the two bolts attaching the front mounting bracket to the car. but nooooooo

Anyone have any suggestions for getting it off ?
