Hello, this will be my first thread post. I've search for exhaust threads that deal with what I'm after but haven't found anything. If one does already exist, please forgive me and redirect me there.
I have a 97 3.2 M3 black/black/black. I've done an obd1 intake swap, asc delete, CIA, and some other cosmetic changes. My next step is an exhaust. I've gone to youtube and looked/listened myself silly. I've heard deep ones, raspy ones, quiet ones, and my personal favorite, the loby ones. I can best describe the loby one as sounding like a corvette with a borla exhaust. I've also heard some of those newer volkswagen R32 gti's that have a mellow 'burble' while driving around. Youtube has clip called: BMW E36 M3 Eisenmann Race Exhaust Revving @ Idle that is definitely the sound I'm looking for. After looking at the pricetag for an Eisenmann exhaust and knowing what kind of HP I can expect from an exhaust, I can't justify buying it. I know I will just be paying for the sound when I finally do decide on one (5-6 hp doesn't count)
Can anyone tell me what it is that makes an exhaust sound this way? I have the obd2 midpipes which keep the 1-3 and 4-6 banks separated back to the catback, not like the obd1's with the 2-1-2 midpipe. Does the loby'ness have anything to do with that?
One other thing, has/did anyone get one of those ebay complete exhaust for sale a few weeks ago? just curious how its sounded..
If anyone needs any other info from me I'll be more than happy to provide it asap. Thanks for your time
