I am trying to install key less entry function to my 97 328i. I bought a keyless entry module from one person, and a key fob from another. I know i have to program the remote, but is that all the parts i need to make the keyless work? I did not get any wires or horns or anything else from the guy. Just the keyless system which goes under/behind the glove. I'm guessing i dont need any wires since all bmws come prewired with keyless. true?

Do i need anything else??

If you bought the factory OEM module, it's just plug n play.
It's an alarm too, BUT... you just have to get an alarm horn to install under hood sice guessing you did not get one in purchase. Loud Generic: $10 on ebay

There are wires required to plug the module into the prewired connector behind the glove box and to the console for the light that should be attached to the end of one wire. So you now need to buy that set of wires and the alarm horn.

I think there's a harness between the car's connector and the alarm....

Does it plug in? Also you need the siren for under the hood but the wiring is already there....

I called BMW and asked them how much the wiring harness would cost for my car. it's $90 but the dealer I called did not have it in stock, nationally, not dealer in the USA has it in stock and, to top it all off, Germany does not have it in stock. so it might take a while if you order it from BMW. Your best bet is here in the forum or a junkyard

so i am finally getting around to installing the keyless entry. couple questions:

1) I found the instruction for the 3 button alarm, for the 2 button remote which i have, do i still need to cut out the footwell to fit it on there? or is there a space in the glove compartment for me to put the module?

2) The wiring harness has a bunch of connectors on it. Since i am only installing hte keyless entry, is it enough that i just plug in the 12 pin connector? or do i have to connect all the other connectors. Im guessing these other connectors are for the led lights, horn, etc. since i only want the keyless entry feature, can i just plug it in the 12 pin connector?

You will need the harness that connects the control box to the car's wiring harness. It's green on one end and another (white or black,, don't remember too long ago) on the other end. It's very hard to find that harness alone because most people are selling it together. Try to see if you can find the seller, or visit the junk yards. I found that small (8inch) harness at a BMW dismantler, and they gave it for free. Bavarian Auto Recyclers is sure to have them as well.

1. The 2 button system is different, it gets installed behind your glovebox. No cutting needed.

2. see my attached picture, you need all that, plus remote to get it working plug and play.
