Afe or cosmos

I have had my 95 m3 for about a month and have decided to get a cai, ive decided on either a afe or a cosmos intake. :conf the cosmos is about 100$ cheaper but im wondering if it is as quality as the Afe. what do u guys think??

I have the cosmos. It sounds really really nice. Im happy with it. I cant say Ive ever heard the AFE

Coming from someone that already owns a Cosmos, I would try the AFE next time around. Some local guy that has an M3 has an AFE. The sound, looks, and quality are all high up there imo.

lol with that being said, im selling my Cosmos V1. Filter needs to be cleaned. PM me if your interested.

Go with the cosmos. I have a carbonio and I think it sounds amazing.

O yeah the afe is supposed to be able to just bolt on with no mods needed to make it fit, is this the same with the cosmos???

Yeah, I have the Cosmos V2 and it sounds great. I can't imagine that I really got any gains from it, but it sounds good.

The AFE looks clean in my engine bay, a breeze to install and really sounds good.

Considering that they all give you the same gains (basically), the Cosmos is nice because it is more cheap. But then again the AFE might sound better.

Cosmos is a great deal plus i like the fact that it takes cool air out of the fender.

I had the cosmos, it was a piece of shit. It wouldn't be bad if they sold it for the $125 it's worth. I'm back to the stock airbox and couldn't be happier.

So i have ppl that like cosmos and one that hates cosmos, and a few ppl like AFE. so i am still in between:help. i realize the afe is prolly a little more quality but is it worth 100$ more:conf

Buy whatever you can find on the forum and upgrade to the 3.5HFM. I got an AA 3.5CAI w/adapter plus the 3.5 HFM and the conforti chip all used for $400. Great performance upgrade for the $$s. Why buy new when you can get so much more while helping out some of your forum brothers, IMO.

For $200 it was a very incomplete kit - the bracket was junk and the intake was a good filter, a crappy PVC pipe, a good silicone tube, and a piece of foam tape that is put on your HFM to use it with a 3" intake.

I removed the snorkel on the front of the airbox, but I can't remember if the baffle is in or not.

My aFe was pretty easy to install (considering I have euro ellipsoids but it would be just as easy to install if you remove the radiator) and the quality is high. Sound is inaudible under 3000RPM, but once over it's real throaty. A very distinct "Oooooooooooo" sound, like when we were kids egging on a fight. =D

incomplete kit? it comes with everything you need whats incomplete about it.. crappy pvc pipe? all it does is attach the filter to the silicone tube, its a perfect fit nice and snug does its job. i didnt even use the bracket. are you sure thats what the foam tape was for? i thought it was to protect the intake from getting any holes in it from rubbing up against sharp edges..

If you like a ghetto intake setup, that's fine. I'm not going to argue the quality of it. Yes, I know what the foam tape was for.
