I have a 325i 2006 in alpine/tan. After I got it I noticed that other 3 series models have this mini display screen similar to 5 series. I immediately wanted to shoot myself in the foot for not doing more research. I assumed the other models had less gas mileage and that their model numbers dealt more with engine spec as opposed to features like this.

Doing research now, however, I have seen a few 330 for sale that have the plane dashboard like my car but some do. If both cars are 330 what determines if it gets or has the display? I think its called the navigation system? is that correct? Can someone educate me on this? I want to do as much research as possible so that I am fully pleased w/ my next purchase.

ps I know one feature I want is the factory ipod feature which will enable me to manipulate songs. Right now I have this long cord coming out my arm wrest to transfer the sound to my speakers from my ipod. To charge it I have an ipod cigarette charger plugged in w/ the cord attached to the ipod. Its a nuisance having all those cords. Not to mention when I need to charge my TomTom or phone I have to unplug something else. I'm so mad at myself.

Roughly speaking, features have nothing to do with the model designation. That small screen you saw is iDrive and can be ordered with any model (in the US at least) but it is not standard on any 3 series. And yeah, it comes as part of the navigation option but iDrive is more than just a navi.

As the model number increases, more features become standard.
