So after a new job change I am moving to San Francisco, turned in the old company car and picked up the new daily city assult vehicle.
2001 Orient Blau 740iS, dove interior is perfect and smells of new leather, one owner with 68k on the clock, still sporting Pilot Sports.

I am very impressed with the handling of this 42xxlbs beast, it's very tossable and predictable...sure wish it had an LSD.

how is the build quality difference with age in consideration? my sister's e36 has kinda ruined newer bimmers' reputation for quality imo.

The e36 is in a class of its own. My e46 has much better build quality.

Thats a very nice e38, but.. Your e34 is unreal! How much clearance do you have to the strut on the inside? Those look pretty wide.
Wow, an I sport.... awesome. I love reminding my mom her e38 isn't a sport :D

thanks guys.
I havent looked inside to see, it only rubs slightly on the very outside on the tire on hard dips on GC coilovers.
17x10 265/40
17x9 255/40
The 740 is a dream to drive, Im really impressed how well it handles, im getting Eibach progressive springs for it which drop it 1.3in all around, also to stiffen it up a little for those 1s/101s Monterey trips, should be perfect as far as stance, too.
Wheels are spaced out 20mm in the rear and 15mm in front, after the springs Ill probably run a 235/45 and 255/40 instead of the 235/50 and 255/45 Pilot Sports.
How do you guys feel about going with black kidneys to match the shadowline?

Looks perfect, don't touch it (unless you lower it even more :devillook)

:shifty
Black kidneys look awful, takes out the definition in the front end. You don't need to match the shadowline trim, you need brightwork in keeping with the wheels.

the excelsier rocks. low-key, lots of good food nearby, close enough to everything, easy to get south fast.
there's a great barber on mission, i'll have to find his address. also a killer, family run peruvian place on valencia.
i thought you were nuts with 2 cars, one a 7 series, in the city. in excelsier you can get away with it. when i was in noe valley, not so much.

Garage space is practically as much as a car payment around here. Oh well, it's all worth it for those evening drives to the beach and dinner. You're gonna have a hell of a time with the M5 on coils though! I scrape on hills and driveways even while angling occasionally, and my car isn't even that low.
