7 button obc upgrade help

ive been meanin to try and upgrade the standard analogue clock on my e36 318is for a while. i dont think i can install the 18 button obc as it reads out detailed info like temp, mpg, etc and therefore the wiring being more complex, but i was considering the 7 button obc.

does anyone know if it is a simple plug n play situation with this obc?

anyone give any advice or help on the matter? this is the item im trying to install:

BMW used to sell a kit to retrofit a 7 button digital clock / outside temperature display. You can get the part numbers from www.realoem.com.
