This is a custom fiberglass box for a single 12" sub. Hardly takes up any space and its easily removeable. You can have a 12" sub and still have most of your trunk left. I custom make these box myself and I can make it for any size sub you want. I can make them for the other side too incase some of you want 2 12" sub.

Here is a picture for an example of one of the box I recently made.

I have compared these to the orignal JL stealth and all I can say is a pair of 8" cant compare to a single 12"

Price ranges from $250 and up. If there is enough interest, I can make these sub box (pictured) for $200 if there is a group buy of 5 or more.

Any further question please email me at vwrado@hotmail.com

It would be nice to have one available for the other side for those that want to keep their stock BMW changer. Unfortunately/Fortunately I got rid of my beloved 12" Infinity Kappa Perfect and got a Infinfity Basslink; it does what I need it to do AND it's VERY light compared to the Kappa.

what's the mounting depth on that particular enclosure?

I'd be interested in one with a 8.5" mounting depth if it doesn't protrude too much.

BiMaW:

This particular enclosure is 9" depth. I can make it deeper or not as deep if you like.

Again this is custom so it can be built to your preference.

Drea///M3:

That sux you got rid of your kappa perfect, those are nice subs. How does the infinity basslink compare to it?

Yeah tell me about it....The Perfect hit hard and loud and clean, but just took up too much space in my trunk and weighed a ton with the box and amp. With the Basslink I get bass but not the same as with the 12" Perfect. What can ya expect from a 10" sub with passive radiator and amp that weighs a mere 15 pounds. I HAVE to port my parcel shelf now, not like before. The Perfect used my parcel shelf like a passive radiator...The thing was massive.

the enclosure looks nice...maybe ill get one in the near future...what is it made out of? fiberglass? wood? do you have any pics of it in its bare form? (wood, fiberglass)

how would that be made of wood, that is 100% fiberglass, nothing else can mold into that,

how does the consumer know that, that enclosure is to sub manufactur specs, if the right price i may need one for my 2 12s i've had sitting for over a year, of course i'd only use 1. :)

The enclosure is made of mostly fiberglass, the only wood part is the round part made to hold the sub. Besides that its all fiberglass. Like any other fiberglass box, that part is usually wood.

CarbonBlkE36:
I can make an enclosure to fit 2 12"s but it goes on the driver side since the passenger side can only fit 1 12".

Damn Damn Damn! Now I'm pissed I sold my 12" Kappa Perfect!

Looks good, how does it secure to the trunk to prevent it from popping out? Is there any odd interference on the right side due to the power wires from the battery? Is it possible to make a single for the left side?

vwrado
06-03-2003, 11:58 AM
fastbmw: Thats not a problem email me to get more info vwrado@hotmail.com

mrhmmhmm: The box is so snugged that it doesn't move, but for extra protection, I use velcro on the back of the box to velcro it onto the carpet on the car. That way its easy to take out and put back in with no hassle of a screw.

vwrado i may be intrested if its possible to fit one 12 on the left side.

vwrado

CarbonBlkE36: That is not a problem. In fact a lot of people would prefer it on that side instead.

That is quite a nice looking enclosure. I too, would prefer a sub on the left side. Damn, just when I thought I'd stop spending money on my damn car, I see this. I've got the stealthbox setup now, and its "ok" but not terribly impressive. I've run a single sealed 10" in all my previous cars and even those blew the stealthbox setup out of the water when it came to tight, deep bass. Especially for complex electronica and other non-rap tunes.

I'd be REAL interested to know people's impressions of these enclosures. I've never run a sealed 12" before - just how TIGHT are they? Would you need to leave open holes in the rear deck for decent sound?

im running a sealed enclosure right now 2, 10in Image Dynamics, sealed enclousre is where its @!!!! but im lookin to free up space and use my 12s that i've never used, and if anyone wants that other one hit me up :)

You do not need to cut holes in the rear deck. You can hear it fine. I have it installed in a 4dr 328 without cutting out the ski hole and it sounds awsome for being one 12". If I turn it up I the rear view mirrors would vibrate.

hey, I'm thinking about getting 2 of your sub enclosures (1 for each side) for my 2 12" type Rs. They should fit fine right? I was just wondernig cuz the type Rs are pretty big.

Also you can get at the spare tire fine then correct? How much for it be for the 2 enclosures.

Do you want any trades?

vwrado

I can do spare tire well if you like.

Fitting the Alpine type R will not be a problem. These enclosures are custom made each time so it can be made in any size.

I am currently working on the driver side and I am also working on making my webpage. I will get pictures up as soon as possible.

Please email me for a price quote. vwrado@hotmail.com

nice!! very well thought out and I only wish there were more people trying to design these types of things for our cars.

Be careful with the admins here and how you post- I got yelled at already about my 6x9 and 8" adapters.

Looking forward to seeing some member installation photos posted!!

Thanks for the complement shark, what would be a sweet setup is if we were to use your 8" adapter to put 8"s in the rear deck for midbass then 12"s to play the low notes.

How do you judge the depth size....Different subs have a different optimal air volume correct?

Cool man, I was thinking the same thing the other day- A perfect setup and would leave the trunk relatively free for actually using it as a trunk! haha

I'll definitely send people your way, let me know when you get your site up. Perhaps we could even work out some sort of package deal or GB discount if anyone wants to just get the whole subwoofer / midbass setup at once.

Ya do you still make these? How much does the box weigh? would it make sense to get one made for the driver side for weight balancing since the battery is on the passenger side?

Hello everyone,

I am very sorry for not replying, I have been extremely busy and I will try to get back to everyone by this coming tuesday with updated information. Thanks for your interest.

You can email me at vwrado@hotmail.com

Yes I still make these sub enclosure. I can make them for either side. The price is:

Single sub = $300
Dual sub on one side = $400
One sub on each side = $500 for 2 enclosure

Price does not include shipping, these enclosures are really light (aprox 8-10 lbs) so shipping would usually run about $15 - 20

It will take a week to make after I recieve payment.

If you have any questions feel free to email me at vwrado@hotmail.com

vwrado,

Still owe you a narrative. Just have been really busy lately. I have very impressed with the enclosure. I installed it right after it arrived and was a little concerned about the fiberglass resin smell. That went away soon after without a trace.

The fitment is just great and the sound, at least in my humble opinion, is just as good as the last three enclosures I've had in the trunk.

The strong points are the fitment (frees up most of the trunk), the workmanship and sound. The only minus (what would a critic be without a minue) is that I haven't been able to fit a speaker screen yet. I know that this is certainly not a great concern, just need to find a new one as none of my older ones fit.

Thanks for the review fastbmw, I really appreciate it!!

audiophile: Getting access to the battery is just as easy as not haveing the subwoofer in there. Its a matter of seconds to pull out the box.

That looks like an awesome setup. I'm interested in upgrading from my JL Stealths to a better, more accurate setup.

I'm a novice with this stuff, at least in the car audio world. What I want is a *really* fast setup for accurate, hard hitting crisp bass. The Stealths can actually drop pretty low for my needs, but can be way too loose at times.

vwrado, what would you recommend as a good driver to run with your box, and would you recommend a two driver setup or single?

I'm running a Kenwood head unit (newer one, can't remember the model excactly, but I think a 4017 or something like that, will be upgrading to a Nak most likely), a Boston Acoustic Pro front stage (I have a set of Diamond Audio Hex series in the garage waiting to go in; I like the silk dome tweets better than the metal dome tweets), and a JL audio 300/4 amp, running everything.

vwrado
08-05-2003, 09:55 PM
frayed: If you are planning on powering your sub with that jl 300/4 (which is a great amp) then I would recommend a sub that doesnt need too much power to push it such as a JL 10 or 12" W0, or you can run the Diamond audio M5 sub if you want to match up.
And if you want harder hitting bass, that isnt a problem either, I can make the enclosure a bit smaller and it will sound tighter.

vwrado, I'm willing to get another amp. At this point, having spent an unreasonable amount of money and time screwing around with subpar stealths due to fitment issues in sedan, I want to do it right this time around.

So, I'd bridge the 4 into 2, run the front stage, run no rear stage, and get a sub amp. Thoughts on amps, as well as on one vs. two subs? Since I'll pull the subs out for track days, the extra weight isn't a big issue, but I'm thinking that with a proper set up (enclosure volume, driver selection, amp selection), a single driver should work well.

audiophile, probably should have mentioned that vwrado made an enclosure for the driver's side... :)
