I am getting some 18x8.5" rims and was wondering what the best tire would be. Dry traction is more important, but wet is not to be completely overlooked. I want to do a staggered setup, maybe 225s in the front and 255s in the back. Please give me some suggestions of brand/model/size.

Thanks in advance.

It all depends on how much you want to spend. The best bang for the buck I believe are the Yoko AVS SPorts. They don't have a good tread for wet traction, but perform pretty well in the dry. The MXX3's are pretty nice, and so are the SO-1 PP's. You may want to wait until the S0-2 PP's come out, cause I heard they are gonna be sick. If you wanna get real extreme, get some Yoko A032R's. They have tons of road noise, but perform like none other.

Hi V,

The best tire available at this time is the SO-2 PP, with superior traction in the dry and the wet.

About the May/June time frame the SO-3 PP will be available.

Se the the performance write ups on performance tires at www.tirerack.com

I have been running the SO-2 PP for three summers now, a new set each summer.

On a 95 M3, can i run 235/35/18 in the front and 255/35/18 in the rear? This would be for 18x8.5 rims. I dont see a problem with this setup, just want other peoples input.

I have decided to go 18x8.5 with 225/40/18 and 18x9.5 with 255/35/18. WIDER IS BETTER :)

Any rubbing problem w/ 255s in the rear? did you had to roll the fender to make them fit? Is your car lowered?

I just ordered them, so I will post once they are installed. My suspension is stock so hopefully if I will have to roll them at all it will be minimal.

I had to roll the fenders for the 255s on my stock suspension. Stock M3 settles about an inch lower (don't know the actuals) and will require the same.
