I'm going to be buying the leatherique pristine clean and rejuvenating oil, so that's about 40 bucks (with shipping)
then, I realize that I need a pc buffer, so there's 120.
and I spent about 70 or 80 in the past two weeks on car cleaning supplies, and I’m going back for more later this weekend.
So that's about a pay check and a half right there. I either need a new job that pays better, or a different hobby. I'm sure if I were to add up all that I've spent on car stuff in the past year that I could have suspension done and gotten a tranny chip.
On the bright side, at least I don't use zanio. then I'd be beyond broke.

Yeah I spent $350 in buying car detail products just this month alone. I bought it early May but just tonight started detailing it.
740girl, I remember seeing that character on your avater before. What is the link to that website with the red gloves and funny ass flash animations?

Why? You have to use it less, it looks better, and is cost effective...the $70 I spent for ALL my Zaino total has lasted a damn long time...
Plus...you don't use them all at the same time...clay bar lasts forever ($14 or so)...ZFX lasts forever ($18 or so)...so it's only ~$40 or so every 5-6months (I'm not even 1/2way through my Z-2 sealant or Z-7 carwash)...

http://homestarrunner.com/sbemail.html the one with the light switch rave is labeled techno.
So yeah... I just bought the porter-cable random orbital: 140 when including shipping
then I went to get the pads, and drifted into compound, polishes, and glaze land: 72 dollars that's with restraining myself. I kept away from the klause and other products I really wanted.
Now to go get the leatherique... I'm going to be so broke after this.
My friend though that my sig was so ironic, the poverty sign in front of the big baller E38, but it's true, I am poor.

Matt, I was told 100+ for the full package. I don’t know, I saw those little bottles, and I understood the mixing part and how a little goes a long way, but it still seemed so excessive.

"The Cheat! We installed that lightswitch so you could turn the lights ON and OFF. NOT so you could throw light switch raves. Now come on, lets go pour glow stick stuff into Homestar's Mountain Dew" :biglaughb How did you make that your avatar?
And yeah, back on topic. What type of compounds/pads did you get?
And trust me, I know what its like to dump endless money into this stuff... I spent over 400 bucks last month... luckily that stuff is holding me up pretty well.

Ben helped me with buying the pads. I bought 2 of the yellow cutting pad, 2 of the white polishing pads and 1 gray finishing pads.
Then I got 3M Perfect it-II fine cut and 3M Finesse it-II machine polish. Once I have the buffer the first task is to get all the scratches/spider webs out. My little clay bar incident put in some pretty deep scratches, so I should be in the garage for a while.
I probably should have ordered a better clay bar and some klasse, but when my cart for properautocare got into the $70's and I had already set aside $140 for the buffer, I decided to call it a day for now. I'll go back after I get a little bit more money.
Someone had made a gif of the cheat. I found it on some random obscure site dedicated to homestar runner. So someone made it, I don't know who.

Little740girl- We're in the same boat!
I just dropped $120 last week on wax supplies, leatherique, and some picks/scribes etc. from Griots to help me work on my paint chips! This isn't even counting what I spent earlier this year on Microfiber from Pakshak (awesome towels by the way!) I have to order the PC tomorrow...where did you order from? I've heard good things about coastal tool.
I wanted to tell you that leatherique offers discounts to BMWCCA members. They didn't ask for any proof that I was in the club (which I am), but the 40 bucks turns into 30, and after I told the nice lady that I was concerned about the leather absorbing the rejuvenation oil, she threw in some prepping agent or something for free.
Call them up, you'll save some money and learn a bit. Be warned though, they love to pat themselves on the back. Don't be in a hurry when you call, if you get the same lady I talked to you could be there for a while hearing about the prestigious antique dealers and car companies that use their products exclusively ;)
Make sure you don't spend too much on the leatherique though--

I got mines form Coastal and I highly recommend it. Downside is that I wish they offered a carrying case for it like what Griots offers.

Jon,
I use a Black&Decker zip case from a portable drill that someone gave me. It's thick canvas, about a foot long by 8 inches wide. I can keep 5 pads, the handle, the backing plate, the plate changing wrench, and the extra counterweight in there with no problems.
Most of the time I just leave it in my secondary detail tub though. I have two of the clamshell-lid type of tub that I picked up from Costco for about $7 each. The "primary" tub is all of my chemicals that I use for a normal wash/detail. Yep, I use *that* many chemicals. In my secondary tub I keep my PC, some polishes, and my big bottles (the 1 gallon of Simple Green, 1 gallon of Folex, 1 gallon of car soap, etc). I also keep my vacuum cleaner attachments in there, and my brushes and wash mitts, etc.
FWIW.
