Below are 2 quick videos of what I believe is my Vanos unit. Its a '95 325i with 133xxx miles on it. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I dont want to order the Vanos replacement unit yet.

Sounds like VANOS noise to me. When was the last time you did the timing chain and tensioners?

I haven't done them. I don't know if any of the previous owners did them either.
