So I bent my left front strut when I hit a storm drain on the poorly maintained and designed Taconic Parkway. I've got to replace them both so I decided to go with the Bilstein Sports. I don't think its going to be a tough installation, but I figured maybe you guys could give me some heads up for any potential osbtacles along the way. Additionally, are there any wear and tear items I should replace while I'm at it?

Thanks alot.

There are several very helpful DIYs--take a look around. I just did mine, and the only thing I had a shop do was move the springs from the old to the new struts. It's not that hard, actually--just take your time and make sure you have everything you need before you start.

Do you have shorter springs already? I don't know if the springs on your car will fit with Sport struts--talk to the company you buy them from to make sure. I used Bilstein HDs and it made a huge difference!

Good luck!

thanks man. I've got the sport suspension in my 328is, and in the rear the sport bilsteins were perfect with the factory springs, so I assume it will be the same for the front. Atleast I hope so.

how about strut tower bearings. Should those be replaced?? Does anyone know? How much wear do they really get, and what do they do exactly? Call me stupid, but i've never heard of anything like that.

I think they're pretty inexpensive on your car, so why not? They're quite a bit more on mine, so I left them alone.....

dont use the suicide spring compressors, take them to a shop off the car, the most they will charge you is like $20, saves you a lot of trouble
