Does anyone know what kind the 2 screws that hold the airbag on are? Are they torx or phillips? And if they are torx does anyone know what size?

Thanks

Def Torx. It's been a while but it was small.

If you are talking about the air bag on the steering wheel, my '97 328is uses T30 (#30 Torx) screws. Yours will probably be the same. I just had mine off yesterday. Make sure the bit is fully seated in the screw. Mine were very hard to break free. When I put it back on I torqued them to the specs in the Bentley manual (see section 721-5) (71 inlb or about 6 ft-#). The Bentley manual recommends disconnecting your battery for at least 11 minuites to allow the system to discharge before touching the SRS system to prevent accidently firing an air bag.

Good luck

Chris

Thanks, hopefully i won't need it. Did you just use a torx screwdriver or did you stick the bit into a socket with an extension? Or some other method?

I would suggest waiting even longer(~30 min.) Airbags, much like Wu-Tang Clan ain't nothing to f**k with...

T-30 sounds right. Do not strip these screws, make sure you have the bit seated before attempting any turns.

Yeah i don't really want my airbag to blast me in the face while i am trying to get a bit seated. That'd wouldn't feel too great. Although i am replacing it due to the center emblem being missing so as long as i am not injured it'd be alright. However don't want that to happen.
