MAF screwup??

Hey Guys and Gals,

I was changing the boot that runs from the MAF to the throttle body today, and I broke the little plastic thing inside the MAF while I was at it... The car seems to run fine, and I REALLY dont want to fork over $300 to replace the MAF, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me what that plastic piece inside the MAF does, and do I need to get a new MAF. If something goes bad, it would be a good time to upgrade to the 3.5/Euro one.

Since you aren't very clear, did you break the plastic screen, or the actual element in the center?

^^good question. We need to know exactly what broke? I have a spare MAF if you need it, itll be way less the 300 bux too.

I broke the element inside it, not the screen. It appears to be the plastic part that actually attaches to the sensor.
