i didnt use the car (06 325i 6-sp w/31Kmi) for 24 hrs...
i pushed the start button tonight and engine starts but in a mil of a sec it starts to stutter (idle rmps jumping from .3 to >1K)... it continued for a half minute maybe.... after that i gave it some gas and idling went to normal...
what was it? is there a problem with my engine/idle/fuel sys/what else?
thnx in advance

Do you have access to a code reader?

I've got an '08 335 and have had the same issue - actually dropped it off again this afternoon for the second time for this.
The first time mine did exactly like you said - turned over a bunch of times, then fired up with the RPM's all over. Shut're down, re-start and it ran fine. Then a few days later, it happened again, and again, then tripped a check engine light. They said it was getting a lean fuel mixture (not enough oxygen) and they reset a computer and I was good to go....for a month or so. Last couple days, same thing - only this time it stalled on me a couple times this morning and when driving it into work it would 'lurch' a bit on acceleration, almost like it was misfiring...dropped it off a few hours ago...we'll see. :(

Mine was a bad HPFP (fuel pump) - known problem with the 335 - but my build date was 10/2007 - I thought they had made changes to the pump by then...oh well.

Ugh sucks, but soon you will have a new pump. You might want to update the sticky thread so there is an easy to find record of a late 07MY HPFP failure.

I don't think so since the HFPF is specific to the N54 engine.

Done...thanks. Good sticky thread by-the-way.
