Hey all, have a question. I had thought that the light noise coming from the drive shaft was the heat shield dragging on the shaft but it has gotten worse. I have come to the conclusion that it is the center support bearing on the drive shaft. However I want to make sure I am correct. Is this bearing mounted right below the center armrest? It is making the familiar 'dead bearing' noise and before I order the part, I want to make sure I have the right diagnosis. The noise is basically coming from about a foot or so rear of the shift lever. i have not gotten a chance to get under the car and double check so I thought I would ask on here.
Thanks guys.

Yep. It's about a foot or so back from the stick-shift. I replaced mine prematurely with the Guibo and the bearing seemed fine at 167,000 miles. Maybe it was replaced some time before.

Search for it, I know Steve (RagnarDanskjold), just had a write up about it. He's local to boot! :D

Yeah, it's about a foot behind the shifter.
BTW, Pelicanparts.com has a great DIY write up.

Just did my center support bearing. Not hard at all, make sure you have a 3 prong bearing puller otherwise you will have a tough time getting the old bearing off. Per the bentley, you are supposed to pre-load the bearing 4-6mm so it will adjust to the correct seat over time.
Not too hard of a job though.
Oh yeah, also make sure when you put the two drive shafts back together, they need to line up. My shaft came with marks to line it up. If yours doesnt have any marks, you'll need to mark your shaft yourself on both ends. If yuo dont, the driveshaft can be unbalanced and cause more problems down the road.

Not too hard... the only problem was my driveshaft had a different bolt holding the two together than what's in pelican and bentley.
I found a guy on here who had the same issue and took some pictures that I followed. I don't have the link though.

Sounds good, I am not sure if I will have time to do it in the next couple weeks. I may take it to the local euro shop this time. Summer, too much crap to do and not enough time to do it...
