What kind of HP numbers do you think the 335i will do before the bottom end becomes an issue? How about the 6sp tranny? What is the weak point on these cars?

I would think initially the turbos would be the first to go before reaching power levels that would affect the bottom end. They are small-built for quick spool up and bottom end torque.

Weak point, hummmm. With traction contol on, a bit slower off the line, very fast 80-120. I have hit the limit at 155

Paperbill i wasnt asking about top speed. Im talking how much horsepower the bottom end can take without grenading. And Jed how much hp do the turbos max out at. Has anyone done a large single turbo?

I know Dinan looked at some high HP kits and they felt the block could not take the power without mods. I think it was issues with the rigidity of the block. I recall that some engines in Europe ran at high boost levels lost the bottom end. Cooling is critical in the engine also. Its prone to hot spots and other issues hence the requirement to have a oil cooler to get the warranty from Dinan on their update.

You might want to look at the forced induction forum on here too.

a proceded 335 is pushing 400 rwhp...... if that helps at all. based on my knowledge i would say that a 335i can take a good amount of power at the low end. i just dont know how much...
