BMW raising prices on new vehicles

According to Bloomberg (http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601100&sid=aOu6t5_Yv2Is&refer=germany), BMW is increasing the prices of new cars by 1% due to the ever-weakening dollar.

Can't really blame them for that one since it is cutting ever more into their margins for profit.

They've been doing this every year. Every new model costs ~$1000 more than the previous year.

They also (and they aren't telling you this part) are raising their prices to keep up with their segment competitors.

Case in point, the new 1 series. Stupidly overcosted for what it is, but if they priced it aggressively, most of their customers would feel it was a weakening of the brand.

As Mercedes continues to practically give away the C-class.....I do agree though, and the brand whores love to brag about how much they spent.
