M stripe for what? Pinstripes? The emblem is a sticker. The ones on the seats are leather. The flag on the LTW are vinyl.

What I'm looking for is the "M" colors, light blue/dark blue/red. To put it another way, if you were going to duplicate these colors in a paint scheme, what colors/paint codes would you use?

I found this sometime ago and saved the info for some reason:

Pantone:
Blue -- Pantone Process Blue
Purple -- Pantone 268
Red -- Pantone Warm Red

Paint:
blue violett GLASURIT-BMW 4000
light blue GLASURIT-BMW 5002
red GLASURIT-BMW 353

RGB:
Blue -- 0 138 201 (Hex: 008AC9)
Purple -- 43 17 90 (Hex: 2B115A)
Red -- 241 26 34 (Hex: F11A22)

Pantone = color process (order) used by printing shops to define colors.

Paint = in this case it is refering to a GLASURIT paint code. Or a specific mix of auto paints.

RGB = Red, Green, Blue. The same process your computer monitor or TV uses to make colors.

"Red represented Texaco who had partnered with BMW during the early days of M racing, blue represented BMW (and Bavaria) and the purple was used to represent the partnership and to allow for a nice transition between the two colors. (Once the BMW/Texaco partnership ended, BMW had to buyout Texaco for the rights to the red.)"

Working up a paint scheme for a race car, no real hurry, maybe next year. Quick story for anyone interested. I picked up a part-time job at my local German Auto Place, due to my frequenting the place and getting to know the owner, it is only him, and your lucky if the place isn't locked up when you go there. 63-yoa and prefers golf to being at the shop. He is getting out and I have the opportunity to buy the place.

Hog-heaven boys and girls, dirty like you can only dream about, around 100 BMW, Porsche, Mercedes in the yard. Functioning "we'll give it a try garage" and massive piles of parts and junk everywhere!!!

Ever seen 200 or so starters/alt/compressors tossed into one big pile? I'll post a picture if you like.

anyway, the point of me asking is I have already got dibs on this car ('95 M3) if I buy the place or not, already set up for SCCA solo events and I'd like to take it further.

Love Laguna Seca Blue, Nice base color with the "m" colors over the top, that's why I asked

2 pictures of the M3, My black hardtop/convertible is parked in front in the second picture

thanks all!!

Need some parts???

Think you could find the color for modena interior :-p Though we'll see how a leatherique job works on it first.

thanks for the info though. its good for future reference.
