And my Next Destination Western Maryland!
Appalachians here I come!

My Opinion on this car is:
Stunning, beyond words!
This only means my next car will be this:
http://images.motortrend.com/features/auto_news/2006/112_news060628_01z+daimler_chrysler_smart_car+pass enger_side_view.jpg
lol.
My first car will be the most expensive car I ever own.
In truth I never wanted such a Nice car. But unfortunately My Dad likes spending a lot of money. He may have a lot of money and we may live in one of the richest towns in Maryland but that still doesn't mean we have the right to spend so much money on wasteful things.
Like just last year he bought a huge Lexus truck! and before that he buys the most expensive Honda Odyssey Touring for my mom. and he says he wants a Mercedes next year!
Thats why my next car will be compact and fuel efficient.
Btw you have probably been waiting for pics of my car. Well here they are:

btw I picked these Colors so the Outside would be Sportsy while the inside would be Elegant!
Also, I will eventually get 18" rims.
So what do you think of my car, how do you rate it!
Whats you opinion on me having this car?
Anything else you recommend I do to it. Any driving tips. facts?
thanks for comments.

I like the car a a lot, great color combo and option list!
Was confused before if it was manual or not. But no more. And it sounds like you appreciate your car and aren't acting like a douche. In my city...if a kid your age got that car, he'd be douching it up hardcore.
Don't do anything stupid! Although you sound like a smart guy so I doubt you wold haha.

That's way excessive for a first car. You would have been just as happy, if not happier, with a $13k E36 M3. But, I suppose rich, spoiled kids will get what rich, spoiled kids get. It is a nice car, to be sure. Congrats.

You guys are being way too harsh on him. His dad was generous enough to buy him a nice car, and he was simply fortunate to have grown up in such a family. OP seems to respect what he has and knows that he is fortunate. I don't think he was trying to show of so much as say, "Yea, my dad likes to buy cars" lol. Don't be so grouchy just because some people are more fortunate than you.
Yes, my dad helped me out with the down payment on my car, big deal. I respect what I have and I take care of my car. Does the simple fact that I drive a car which I wouldn't have been able to afford on my own make me a douche or something? Why? Because I drive an E46 instead of an E36? Gimme a break.
OP, welcome to BFC, and very nice looking car. Enjoy it, but don't get cocky. You have a nice car, treat it well and don't do anything too crazy with it and it will treat you nice as well.

Pay for your own car! Your parents aren't teaching you anything by buying you such a nice (albeit ugly) and expensive car. Go by what you can afford and work your way up. I don't care how much you 'love' or will care for the car. You will take better care of it if you pay for it yourself. It's true!

Completely agreed. Not to mention, I genuinely believe that being materially spoiled by parents commonly leads to that dreaded sense of entitlement we see all too often from my generation.

i work 30 hours a week while still going to school full time, my gti is done in august, and with the price of e46 m3's shooting way down, its not that hard to afford an 01 or 02 model with 55k-60k miles.
And my 02 is my project car which gets worked on slowly that is sitting in my garage.
Oh, its summer time now though, so i'm saving up to hopefully pay a decent chunk for the m3 by the end of august.

I work 35hrs a week and im a full time student and i never would have got my car on my own. My dad bought it for me and i maintain it. I now pay for everything. there is nothing wrong with parents buying kids things as long as they learn to respect things and pay for things on there own. i have no problem with parents buying a nice car for a kid that deserves it(a 08 BMW might be a bit much) as long as the kid takes the responsiblity of taking care of it and learn from it. I grow up in a school were alot of the kids drove BMW, Lexus, Caddy, and Audis and it doesnt bother me, especially when i grow up and see them still sleeping at dads house since they havent learned a thing from owning something nice. its all about what you do you the chances you get, not what you do with the stuff.

if you parents pays for your car or college. when you finally get out of college or whatever and have a job, why not paying your parents back?
please dont be saying "oh at least I respect my car and know how to take care of the car" THE FACTS IS YOU DID NOT PAY FOR YOUR OWN CAR!!
parents or grandparents dont have to help you out. they can give you a little help sometime but to pay for your car I think thats too much. its always good on earning your own money and learn to live on your own.

Nice. Congrats on the new car, but I do have to agree with this.
I grew up having everything handed to me and placed a lot of value on material things, so I was never happy. So, in the long run I feel like it did more harm than good having everything I wanted until I learned to gain happiness from things other than material objects and understood what it meant to actually have to work for the things I received.

The more you work for something, the more you cherish it. I started out with a 87 dodge pickup, saved up for a e36 323 and then saved up for a e36 M3. I'm 19 and am currently in the plumbing apprentiship program. I feel a lot better about myself knowing i worked very hard for my belongings. I am very very grateful for what I have. I see many young (17-20) driving brand new lexus, MB, nice new BMW cars and It makes me a little sick because I know they were happy for a few days and now they just act like it's nothing. not all of them but most of them. 2 cents.

BINGO. You picked a great color combo for that car, but I think your father made a terrible mistake buying it for you as your first. If/when you do slide out some rainy day and cause $10-15K in damage, your insurance will be so high until your 25 that an 87 pinto will be what you drive.
No one should have a new car that costs 40k as their first. I think it's wonderful that your dad loves you so much that he wants to spoil you, but imo he's doing the wrong thing by both of you.
Get a used m3, hell even the E46's can be had in the low 20's now.

I cannot believe that I am the first one to call BS on this one. WELL BS.
I bet my left foot that your parents drive that car, not you. A dead give away for me was the modest truck in the garage and the lack of this "most expensive Honda." And come on I am not trying to sound like a dick but that looks like a pretty middle-class house to me. My guess is this kid is trying to live the life of rich and famous on the internet. Neither. Life isn't always so black and white. I'm a middle-aged, white-collar, salaried career guy who came from a clergy family (for those of you that don't know, most clergy aren't paid very well, except for those new-fangled types like Osment or whatever his name is). I managed to get enough scholarships and grants to pay my way through University to get my Bachelors Degree. Everything I have now I acquired myself, as the fruits of my labor: my house, our three cars, my golf clubs.
If I had kids, and I had means, there's no way in hell I'd buy him an E36 M3. I probably wouldn't have gone this route either - maybe a Honda Accord, or a base Subaru Impreza if AWD was a requirement. This kid's father (if this is all legit) probably went with a new car in order to have the security of a warranty would offer... seriously doesn't sound like the kid (yes, you are still a child, no disrespect) had much choice in the matter.
I grew up having everything handed to me and placed a lot of value on material things, so I was never happy. So, in the long run I feel like it did more harm than good having everything I wanted until I learned to gain happiness from things other than material objects and understood what it meant to actually have to work for the things I received.
Well, nice point, but even for someone with a modest upbringing like me - even now that I've achieved many goals and realized many personal dreams - I'm rarely happy with what I have - I still strive for more, even when it is unneccessary. I guess I 'coveted' too much when we had very little, and now this pursuit of 'ever-improving' is a result of it.

My Mom is very strict about money while my dad isn't.
So my dad would have bought the 335xi but my mom only let him go up to 40,000 dollars. She would not let him buy the sports package because I am a teen and it does not go together well. Also, Xenons would have made the car more expensive above what my mom and my dad agreed. But my dad wants to put in Xenons later on and 18" rims and maybe some other stuff.
Also we may live in a medium sized house but trust me when I saw its worth ALOT.
Mostly because its considered water from property. Wait till you see what our water front view is. And see our boat. Ill post some cool pics of it all soon.

I bought my youngest son a new BMW too.
Oh shoot, it wasn't new...it's an '88 535i with 190K on the clock, some rust, some dents, and some electrical gremlins. Oh yeah, and he doesn't actually get it until he EARNS it by showing me the high school diploma. But he does do the work on it, and WILL appreciate it as much (if not more) than a spanking new one because of what he's required to do to drive it. That included completing driver's ed, a "Street Survival" course, and lots of Dadtraining.
Congrats to the OP for being treated so well, no so much kudos for seemingly bragging. I forgive him though, I might be tempted to brag even at 48 yrs old.

Mostly because its considered water from property. Wait till you see what our water front view is. And see our boat. Ill post some cool pics of it all soon.
Here are the buetifull pics I promised!
Here is my dads old boat. But he sold it a few months ago for a different one.

Oh boy that really looks like you in the pictures too. Oh and last time I checked severna park is not on the eastern shore. Why dont you just stop trying to be an asshole on here, and just talk about the cars. If you would have just come on here and said hey look at my new car, what do you think, we wouldnt have a problem. You come on here thinking your not a child, but acting like a total fool.

sorry about that. i Don't actually live in severna park. I only wrote that because I didn't want to write my real city due to privacy reasons and thats all I could think of lol.
I apologize if I offended you.
Although I have to admit I did live in severna park for about 3 years after we moved from New york city. Severna park is also a very nice place to live. Its quite expenive but definatly worth it since the school system is awesome.
I highly recommend it if you are looking for a house.
good luck!

Hey man honestly your really just making yourself look like a complete fool. U need to just stop. If your father really did get you that car then congrats or whatever but what makes me so mad is the way that your situation and the way you presented it makes all of us kids (we are definitely still kids) look like idiots. I know the statistics and its a shame that people around the age of 17 like me and you cant control themselves but it just sucks when you come on here with daddy this daddy that. Ill admit it Im 17 and I own a 97 M3 with 62k on the clock. I worked for about 3 summers to save up about 4k. My father helped me out with the remaining 9k. Now technically it really cant be mine if i only paid 4/13s of it but my father insists that I've shown him the responsibility he wanted and therefore insists that it is mine.
So yes maybe Im a statistically immature, stupid, materialistic, I totaled my car thread waiting to happen. But for Christ's sake man, shit be mature enough so that kids like us get a fair chance before people start the "wow see this is why kids should never own a car like that" stuff. we already aren't taken that seriously by the masses on these forums but dude don't make it worse. your only making more mature people on here look like fools.
My rant is over, sorry its long but shit man.
P.S. the kid who's 14 and gives off no air of being that age FTW

Enjoy the car!
And its depressing to see so many people give this kid a hard time. Until I know otherwise I'm going to take him at his word, and not give him a hard time for his good fortune. This is a BMW forum, for heavens sake, and the guy shared a story, a ride report, and pics! We need more like him.

I agree with you. If he was so worried about people knowing his real location then why put one at all? Or why tell everyone on the forums where you live in Maryland and show of a picture of your dads boat.

I think I can honestly say, that in all the years I have been a member of this forum, this is by far the most ridiculous and obnoxious thread I have ever read.
It never ceases to amaze me why people find it pertinent to post pictures/explanations of things that no one cares about and are completely irrelevant. (however untrue they may be)

agreed, stupid thread. but yeah, if i was wealthy and had the money to give my kids what they wanted, which oddly enough would ALSO BE WHAT I would want them to have, i definately wouldnt buy them a new car.. i would make them work 40 hours a week, ignore all studies, until they could save up enough money to buy a corolla with no abs or airbags.. modern cars and these so-called safety features are overrated.. .
"all the rich kids whose parents bought them cars, all crashed them" do these kids take much of what they have for granted? sure, its part of being a kid.. but do they purposely run them into the ground in a self destructive manor? i doubt it...
money is relative, and its not money that spoils kids or takes away from life learning experiences.. its parenting, and bottom line, who the hell are you to tell someone elses parent what they can or cannot buy their kids?

We dont live in that "area" We live on the eastern shore of maryland.
Our community is water front and our house is worth around 2 million.
If your house (or the one pictured) is right on the water then why are there a ton of trees that can be seen in the backyard since the view shown definitely isn't from your front yard. Also, if that's the view from your house then why does it look like all of your family members have never seen it before in their life or at least not on a regular basis. That looks like a view right from Hemingway's restaurant on Kent Island. Are you sure you all weren't the ones vacationing on the Eastern Shore? I have family that lives in Saint Michaels and $2 million can get you A LOT more house than that on the water.

Nope... in certain areas the even a small house will cost you around 2 million if its on the waterfront. And I said in one of my posts I live a couple blocks away from the shore. Also, I previously mentioned that the pics taken were from when we first moved to the property about a year ago.
And we do live near hemmingways though so you are pretty close about that. But we still live a few miles away from that place.
Infact the old place I lived in severna park was just near a small dock water access. And that alone was a mid sized house also and still was worth 1.4 million.

I think its funny when people try to reason why they are in a wealthy family
"I don’t believe in buying expensive stuff, so that makes me a good person."
It just makes me laugh, it seems to me that almost everyone with money try to pull off this mentality. "I work for my stuff, I just pay for the car. I know what its like to have a hard life."
I guess its better then thinking your hot shit cause everything is handed to you, but your not fooling anyone.
I will admit to be the same way. I get help with my living expenses, I pay for the car. I can’t lie about it, I know I can’t.
The only difference is I used to not have it so good until my mom married my stepdad. Things changed after that, it really is a new lifestyle to me, and this only happened a few years ago. I've always seen this kind of mentality, it makes me chuckle.
Shit, I got to stay out of these threads, they drive me batty! wheres some performance threads gaaawwdamnit!

ok... bottom line is whether the OP does in fact drive this car or not.... he is indeed a douchebag, congrats on the car, enjoy it... treasure it.... and respect it, but for gods sake notice when you are in a losing battle and shut the hell up with all of the "my family really is rich" crap, obviously no one cares... no matter what you say, they aren't going to believe you.... this is a BMW forum, post pictures of your BMW, not your dad and his yacht, we don't care
