I am pretty sure my car has a slight leak from the sensor on the oil pan and I was wondering if anyone else had changed theirs. I did a search, but nothing really came up. Is it as simple as it looks? Just undo the three nuts holding it on and put a new gasket ring on there? This is all while there is no oil in the engine of course.

On the M50?
It's like being basted with motor oil

he's got an m30. I've removed one before, but I have absolutely no recollection of the gaskets. I'll see if I can find a pan laying around to check.

On the m60 there is a gasket, if i remeber correctly. It should be as straight forward as that.. Edit: here you go http://www.realoem.com/bmw/diagrams/a/i/5.png
The picture of the diagram showing what all the parts are will not show up, here is a direct link to the page. BTW the gasket is part number 10: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=HD13&mospid=47408&btnr=11_1893&hg=11&fg=10
