2008 BMW X3 AND X5 earn IIHS' 2008 Top Safety Pick Award

Vehicles Bestowed Highest Rating of "Good" for Frontal Offset, Side Impact and Rear Crash Protection Performance

Woodcliff Lake, NJ - November 15, 2007... BMW of North America today announced that the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded the 2008 BMW X3 and X5 the top rating of "Good" in each of its series of crash tests, earning both vehicles the Institute's coveted TOP SAFETY PICK Award.

Receiving the TOP SAFETY PICK for the 2008 BMW X3 and X5 vehicles is one of many achievements that BMW has earned from the IIHS over the years. In fact-as a result of IIHS' crash tests in 2000-the 2001 BMW X5 earned a TOP SAFETY PICK, as well as the unique distinction of not only being the best SUV, but also being the best vehicle ever tested by IIHS to that point.

The Institute rates vehicles "Good," "Acceptable," "Marginal" or "Poor" based on performance in high-speed Frontal Offset and Side Impact crash tests as well as an evaluation of the vehicle's Rear Crash Protection/Head Restraints, which protect against neck injuries in rear impact crashes. In order for a vehicle to become a TOP SAFETY PICK, it must earn "Good" ratings in all three Institute tests. Additionally, as of 2007, winning vehicles must also offer Electronic Stability Control (ESC) - a feature that both the 2008 BMW X3 and X5 offer with enhancements over previous models. The necessity for this feature is based on Institute research indicating that ESC significantly reduces crash risk, especially the risk of fatal single vehicle crashes, by helping drivers maintain control of their vehicles during emergency maneuvers.

"We are proud to receive the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's TOP SAFETY PICK for both the 2008 BMW X3 and X5," said Tom Purves, Chairman and CEO, BMW (US) Holding Corp. "Achieving these top ratings is evidence of the excellent safety and crash protection provided by the X3 and X5 SAVs and is a true testament to BMW's dedication to providing a safe and superior driving experience."

2008 BMW M3 Earns Popular Mechanics Performance Award

ALL-NEW 2008 BMW M3 EARNS POPULAR MECHANICS' 2008 AUTOMOTIVE EXCELLENCE AWARD FOR PERFORMANCE

Woodcliff Lake, NJ - November 14, 2007... BMW of North America today announced that its all-new 2008 BMW M3 has won Popular Mechanics' 2008 Automotive Excellence Award in the performance category. Martin Birkmann, BMW M Series Brand Manager, accepted the honor on behalf of BMW at the award reception, which was held today at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

"We are thrilled that the 2008 BMW M3 has won this year's Automotive Excellence Award for performance," said Tom Purves, Chairman and CEO, BMW (US) Holding Corp. "BMW is dedicated to engineering vehicles that provide consumers with the ultimate driving experience and superior performance, so it is especially gratifying that the 2008 BMW M3 has won the award in the performance category. It just adds to the already incredible level of excitement and anticipation building around the launch of the M3 this spring."

The all-new 2008 M3 Coupe and M3 Sedan-which made their North American debuts earlier today at the auto show-arrive at dealerships in spring 2008 and will feature the first V8 in a series-production BMW M3. They will also feature driver-adjustable settings for crucial dynamic controls encompassing engine response, steering, damping and stability (with an available steering-wheel-mounted "MDrive" button to store the preferences.) The vehicles also offer a sport-oriented interior, which can be optimized to the driver's desires.

In its December 2007 article about the Awards, Popular Mechanics automotive editors praise the 2008 BMW M3 as "..one of the few performance cars that can triumph at weekend track days and still carry four friends in perfect comfort and luxury to an evening movie…The M3 is elegant and powerful, and it does its job at a comfort level not many cars can match."

Each year, to determine the winners of the Popular Mechanics Automotive Excellence Awards, the magazine's editors drive more than 100 of the newest cars, trucks and sport-utility vehicles, amassing well over 100,000 miles in the process. Through their experiences on extended test drives around the world, instrumented comparison tests and longer-term evaluations, the auto team nominates a list of vehicles in each category. Those selections are put to a vote and the top vote getters in each category win an Automotive Excellence Award.

BMW CELEBRATES YEAR ONE OF THE 1 SERIES WITH SPECIAL ENGRAVED START/STOP BUTTON

Woodcliff Lake, NJ - November 8, 2007... Each 2008 BMW 1 Series, both coupe and convertible models, will be equipped with a specially engraved Start/Stop button with the inscription: "Year One of the 1". The engraved Start/Stop button is one of several notable initiatives to be announced celebrating the launch of the new BMW 1 Series in America next spring.
